As much as it pains me to say this, it is inevitable that football isn't going to happen in 2020.

You will not want to run into sadgator for the next 24 hours thereafter...

When Anthony Fauci was asked if he expedited the virus to come back after a summer lull, here is what he said:
"In fact, I would anticipate that that would actually happen, because of the degree of transmissibility," Fauci said. "However, if you come back in the fall, it will be a totally different ball game of what happened when we first got it with it in the beginning of this year."
Will this allow dawg fans to declare themselves 2020 national champs? I mean they already got the recruiting trophy, so this might be a sweep.
I think you mean DEFCON 3
... ADs would be willing to start the season at the start of the spring semester in January if need be.
That would be VERY interesting.
No spring football for the second year in a row, and the football season would actually be ongoing when the recruiting season ends in February. Would early enrollees be able to play right away? Would they get a free extra year of eligibility? And a football season that runs during February, well, Tallahassee gets pretty cold, Gainesville a bit less and Miami pretty temperate, but I'm thinking about Northern teams. Lot of snow games.
Our schedule actually works really well for a spring move. 5 of our first 6 are at home, so not too many chances for a snow game, which I doubt we would handle well.
And, of course, the Final Four is scheduled for April 3-5. That is the 13th weekend of the Spring semester. If football starts the 1st weekend of the Spring Semester, then the 13th weekend would be the final week of the football season. You know, UF-FSU, Auburn-Alabama, Michigan-Ohio State. Rivalry week.
Of course, then the bowl games would be in what, May/June? Those poor northern teams, they know Florida's summers are hot, but they probably don't realize summer starts in March. They will COOK in May. All those southern bowl games are going to be miserable. Wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of teams opted out of them.
After the season, then we have to go right into practice mode for the fall season. Those kids are going to be worn out, and nobody will have time to get over any serious injuries. Attrition will be terrible.
And what about the draft? How many kids just skip their final season entirely, rather than miss the combine and rookie mini camps and everything else?
I think it's pretty obvious there would not be a spring football season.
Football thing aside, how much longer can we stay on shutdown. It is absolutely depressing. And now I'm reading people can't have funerals for their loved ones...goodness gracious. This entire situation is so terrible...sadgator actually cried this morning...he really did...
The spelling police is alive and well. Thx I'll write it down.I think you mean DEFCON 3
I think all of your reasons take a back seat to revenue. If they don't have revenue, there are no other sports because they cant pay for them. The athletic departments go belly up.
The elephant in the room is the virus is likely to have a reemergence in the winter...bad time to have 50,000 to 100,000 people in stadiums across the country.

Also, if football is in the winter/spring, how does that affect football in the fall of 2021? Another season starts up with just three months of rest? would probably have to be two shorter seasons. No easy answers
I do hope you are right that it's gone by April. However you do realize that Louisiana has nearly 10,000 cases. You do realize Louisiana is in the south and is considered a warm climate. California, the southern portion mostly has nearly 10,000 cases. Warm weather as well. Looking over Florida's numbers it seems Broward and Dade have the most cases. Both extreme southern counties.Strong anecdotal that April being here is affecting this stuff a little in the South with the warming. Some Korea scientists say data so far points to it following about the same path as the flu. All the recent real big breakouts are in Michigan, Illinois and the NE etc. while somehow TX, CA and FL have not exploded yet like places up there despite areas that are pretty dense population wise. Hopefully those 3 states stay relatively calm for how big of populations they have.

Hopefully the prediction of warm weather killing it holds true but when I see Caribbean cruise ships turning around due to the COVID-19 outbreak it's a wonder if the warm weather does indeed kill the virus.
