As much as it pains me to say this, it is inevitable that football isn't going to happen in 2020.

I think in about 4 months we are just going to open everything back up and tell anyone who is vulnerable to hide out.

With the Bucs going all in on a senior citizen at QB, it is a near certainty that the next NFL season will get cancelled. Nothing good happens for the hapless Bucs organization.

On the day they announce the season has been cancelled (if they do)...sadgator will seriously lose his shit....

You will not want to run into sadgator for the next 24 hours thereafter...

Like Neo ran into the Agent???

I should certainly hope not... :D

I think by May and what the numbers say then football will be a go. Just got to make sure we don't pull this epic hysteria stuff again come November.

When Anthony Fauci was asked if he expected the virus to come back after a summer lull, here is what he said:

"In fact, I would anticipate that that would actually happen, because of the degree of transmissibility," Fauci said. "However, if you come back in the fall, it will be a totally different ball game of what happened when we first got it with it in the beginning of this year."

Absolutely. This thing came out of nowhere and caught us totally off guard. Next year I expect heath professionals to have a game plan in place that will restrict the spread while allowing (mostly) normalcy otherwise. When I say mostly, I think social distancing, mask wearing and suchlike will continue to be a thing.

Will this allow dawg fans to declare themselves 2020 national champs? I mean they already got the recruiting trophy, so this might be a sweep.

No, it fsu that are the Champions of seasons that don't happen (see basketball). However, speaking of UGa's spring championships, they may have a legitimate shot:

Biggest takeaway from the @Brett_McMurphy
interview with @finebaumis that football revenue is so essential to athletic programs, that ADs would be willing to start the season at the start of the spring semester in January if need be.

... ADs would be willing to start the season at the start of the spring semester in January if need be.

That would be VERY interesting.

No spring football for the second year in a row, and the football season would actually be ongoing when the recruiting season ends in February. Would early enrollees be able to play right away? Would they get a free extra year of eligibility? And a football season that runs during February, well, Tallahassee gets pretty cold, Gainesville a bit less and Miami pretty temperate, but I'm thinking about Northern teams. Lot of snow games.

Our schedule actually works really well for a spring move. 5 of our first 6 are at home, so not too many chances for a snow game, which I doubt we would handle well.

And, of course, the Final Four is scheduled for April 3-5. That is the 13th weekend of the Spring semester. If football starts the 1st weekend of the Spring Semester, then the 13th weekend would be the final week of the football season. You know, UF-FSU, Auburn-Alabama, Michigan-Ohio State. Rivalry week.

Of course, then the bowl games would be in what, May/June? Those poor northern teams, they know Florida's summers are hot, but they probably don't realize summer starts in March. They will COOK in May. All those southern bowl games are going to be miserable. Wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of teams opted out of them.

After the season, then we have to go right into practice mode for the fall season. Those kids are going to be worn out, and nobody will have time to get over any serious injuries. Attrition will be terrible.

And what about the draft? How many kids just skip their final season entirely, rather than miss the combine and rookie mini camps and everything else?

I think it's pretty obvious there would not be a spring football season.

Memo to NCAA: BRING BACK NCAA FOOTBALL VIDEO GAMES. NCAA2021. We all know you'll take the knee and pay out royalties eventually in the next decade anyhow.

I think all of your reasons take a back seat to revenue. If they don't have revenue, there are no other sports because they cant pay for them. The athletic departments go belly up.

The elephant in the room is the virus is likely to have a reemergence in the winter...bad time to have 50,000 to 100,000 people in stadiums across the country.

This entire situation is so terrible...sadgator actually cried this morning...he really did...
Football thing aside, how much longer can we stay on shutdown. It is absolutely depressing. And now I'm reading people can't have funerals for their loved ones...goodness gracious.

Strong anecdotal that April being here is affecting this stuff a little in the South with the warming. Some Korea scientists say data so far points to it following about the same path as the flu. All the recent real big breakouts are in Michigan, Illinois and the NE etc. while somehow TX, CA and FL have not exploded yet like places up there despite areas that are pretty dense population wise. Hopefully those 3 states stay relatively calm for how big of populations they have.

If there is no football the riot in the streets will kill hundreds of thousands of woman.....just kidding....

Also, if football is in the winter/spring, how does that affect football in the fall of 2021? Another season starts up with just three months of rest? would probably have to be two shorter seasons. No easy answers

Disagree. They will figure the money out. Alumni stepping up, etc.

But if they did it that will be the true litmus test on whether they are students first or athletes first.

Yes, I mentioned that. Have to go straight into practice. Injured players have no time to heal.

If they do this, it's the end of amateur athletics. Or at least of the fiction that these are student-athletes.

When my God given inalienable rights are being pissed upon by over-reaching politicians (traitors to their Oath's of Office to 'support and defend the Constitution'), it's difficult for me to get too upset over freakin' sports. o_O

Being in a high risk group, I'll wear my 'replaceable filter' mask in public grouping, for the time being at least, but to hell with staying home like they had the authority to declare 'martial law' like restrictions.
Find 'Martial Law' provisions in the Constitution for me...

What Trump (and the Florida Governor) need most right now is a 'Constitutional Law' adviser, instead of political ambulance chasers and 'worst case scenario' medical advisers....

From data broadcast last night: 4-1-2020

Identified Co-V cases in the U.S. = 190,000
Total Co-V deaths in the U.S. = 4,100
Mortality Rate of proven infected to deaths = 0.02%

Total Mortality Rate for U.S. Population = 0.00001% Co-V19
Total Mortality Rate for U.S. Pouplation = 0.0001% Yearly Flu

So for me for right now, the corrupt politicians attack on my God given inalienable rights is a whole lot more serious than the threat of the Flu or the Co-V.

Any authority not allowed or given to the Federal Govt. delineated by the restriction placed on them by the Constitution, remains with the states and the always 'sovereign' citizens of America.

Order of president:
The People.
The local 'elected by the people' county Sheriff.
Each states 'elected by the people' governor.
The U.S. President, 'elected by the people' through their electoral college.
The President's appointed/hired bureaucrats, FBI, DHS, DIA, etc...

The entire Congress is subject to 'recall' by the vote of the PEOPLE.
They serve the people, not the other way around. o_O

The courts 'elected by the people' judges, are limited by juries of the people. The judge doesn't control the jury, the jury controls the judge and the law, and the jury can decide against both the judge and the law.

The 'Supreme Court' is only superior to the lower courts, It is not made up of 'Supreme Beings' so THE PEOPLE can still decide against them and overturn any decision of their's. And while a Supreme Court Justice can't be removed from the court by Congress or by the President, they can still be recalled by a vote of those in charge, THE PEOPLE!

Too many ignorant sheep, backed up by personal cowards, and slavery by tyrants can be the result. So WTFU People, before it's too late. Get fully informed and vote accordingly for the good and preservation of us all.

Here's a good place to begin your education, while you're being forced to stay at home.... 'Silver Lining to this cloud' ;)

I do hope you are right that it's gone by April. However you do realize that Louisiana has nearly 10,000 cases. You do realize Louisiana is in the south and is considered a warm climate. California, the southern portion mostly has nearly 10,000 cases. Warm weather as well. Looking over Florida's numbers it seems Broward and Dade have the most cases. Both extreme southern counties.

Hopefully the prediction of warm weather killing it holds true but when I see Caribbean cruise ships turning around due to the COVID-19 outbreak it's a wonder if the warm weather does indeed kill the virus.

FL, CA and TX by population aren't in the same stratosphere whatsoever of NY and NJ - so far anyway. New Orleans area let it get loose in old age homes etc. Hopefully its working its way down some there now and FL, TX and CA stay relatively calm compared to up north big populated areas there. NY and NJ are literally putting out more death numbers than the rest of the country now. Hopefully when they start coming down the whole country does.
