Florida Gators right-handed pitcher Ryan Slater has been selected in the 18th round of the 2024 MLB Draft. The San Francisco Giants selected Ryan Slater on Tuesday with the 538th overall pick of the 2024 MLB Draft.

Coming out of high school, Slater wasn’t a top recruit in Florida’s 2021 recruiting class. He redshirted his freshman season before starting to make an impact in the 2022 season. As a redshirt freshman, Slater posted a 6-4 record with a 5.34 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and a 7.5 K/9.

During the 2023 season, Slater made 27 appearances and three starts. He posted a 10-1 record with a 4.22 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, three saves, 2.9 BB/9, and 48 strikeouts in 59.2 innings pitched.

In his final season at Florida, Slater had his ups and downs on the mound. Slater made 30 appearances and three starts. He posted a 5-2 record with a 6.70 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, one save, and a 8.0 K/9.
