FIRST GAME THREAD IS HERE

Worton has some shakes. Guys like Bailey are showing themselves to be explosive too. Good to see.

We now have three drives that didn't result in a TD.

Punt, fumble, field goal...

And I dare not mention the goose egg in one category as we enter the 4th....it's unbelievable to me.

Idk why they put Treon back in. And it's nothing against him but he's been on the bench for what 6 straight drives before he got back in? He and the offense looks off rythm.

It's semi-concerning to me that if you take our QBs rushes out of the equation, that we have 20 rushes for less than 100 yards and two TDs against a team like this.

I also think it's telling that Grier started the 2nd half.

Treon looks rough now and yes, he is cold but my goodness.

More than half of Treon's passing yards and his touchdown were off of two plays...one of those being a short dump off to Kelvin Taylor.

And now he can't seem to complete passes against a NMST team that is mailing it in.

Musberger actually said something profound. I know, I'm shocked too. He noticed that Florida was putting Taylor in on passing situations and commented that it was obvious that they favored him, and that it was probably because the young guys weren't up to speed yet. Under mudchump that would have meant that the young guys wouldn't have played at all. It's a microcosm of the difference between old coaches and new.
Ironically, wasn't pass protection the thing that kept Taylor off the field the last couple of years?

That's what I've been saying, they have blown up our guards in the run game. That's pretty concerning that all our success basically comes on the edges. And yea not surprised with Harris that's expected. He basically sat for an entire quarter, then halftime, then the first two drives of the second half. Didn't see the point in putting him back in at that point. Not because he doesn't deserve to play but because at that point he can't help but be cold.

Bailey is quick! I'm hoping he and Powell can take over the slot full time with Robinson and Calloway outside. That's a nice foursome with our tight ends.

Still...Treon was cold in the beginning, so was Will. He still doesn't have his feet under him after playing more and especially against a team that's all but given up the fight.

I think a lot of it is mental after the way Grier played and then him starting the second half.

Treon had the half season of experience and Grier is still playing as good or better.

When was the last time UF scored over 50 points? I could be wrong but in 2012 I don't know if UF scored 50 points the whole season...

I like the play they keep running where our QB throws it 20+ yards to one of the Gator players. Mac is an offensive genius.

I'm wondering if Mac can pull off what Spurrier has "attempted" and failed with it by rotating two QBs in and out of the game? I think it could work...

No I don't think so. In a perfect world we play both but I don't think you can do something like that all season especially if both continue to play well. At some point one of them will want to be the man. It's a good problem to have for the moment though.

That probably had something to do with it, I would say understandably. I mean he went perfect and didn't get back in the game until the third, that kinda has to damage confidence some.

How hilarious is is though that Muschamp appears to have signed two of the best QB's we've had in a while? Throw in Brissett who so,e have as the top junior QB and it's hilariously ironic. Thank god he ain't here to ruin the two we got now.

The biggest difference I saw and Palmer touched on it...Grier sees to throw the ball on time...his timing is better. Throw in the height and strong arm and he looked a step ahead tonight IMO. Both guys played really well and Treon is a player...kid just makes plays. Great showing by both guys tonight and the offensive line has done a very good job too.

Sigh we have a penalty....I was really hoping to find out when the last time we went a game without one.

To be honest folks, MAC as is hands full with the QBs, RBs and even the TEs positions. It's funny how players react to Head and position Cocaches during the offseason. MAC has a pretty darn good staff.

That guy who was here before, not going to say his name, didn't have it together all those years. I guess whenever u micromanage you will reap what you sow, period. JMHO this feels like a whole new set of layers on the field.

Yea our tight ends are impressive too. All big and can run. I can't remember our tight end group being this deep since we had Troupe, Kinney and those guys. To be honest I'd play them out wide more than some our receivers at least they have reliable hands.

Driskel totals 5 TDs, Louisiana Tech tops Southern 62-15

Pretty sure I mentioned earlier that I wouldn't be surprised at all if JD put up numbers because he's now playing against severely worse competition and talent, just like in high school, when he could out athlete everybody.

Interesting comments by Mac. Said the plan all along was to have Grier start the second half, I guess so both could get 'starts.' Also said he seriously considered not pulling Treon after his start but decided to go ahead and stick to the plan.

I agree, but would add that this is yet another Muschamp QB who has gone somewhere else and done better.

Grier is the starter now but treon will play some role in the offense.

I've been saying we have more talent on offense than people think.

Muschamp was just that bad of a influence on the offensive side of the ball. We have some WRs and we have some TEs.

I really think the Oline is going to determine the QB. I saw Harris in the pocket, and he really telegraphed a couple of throws. Just stared at the WR. But, he will be our QB if we can't block, because he is not just mobile, he's shifty. He is the better broken play QB.

If we ever get to where we can hold a pocket consistently, the Grier needs to be the QB, because he looks to have that something special: the timing, decision making, arm strength and quick release that elite QB's possess. But to use those weapons, he needs a consistent clean pocket. Can we provide it?

Muschamp left with a legacy of offensive ineptitude. No quarterback performed especially well during Muschamp's tenure. For that reason I think it is a stretch to blame the kids who played quarterback during the dark ages of the Muschamp years. I doubt any qb could have performed playing in Will's atrophied offense. Driskel may have been athletic but not athletic enough to overcome his coaches incompetence.

If tonight is any indication I'd say no. They pushed our pocket on multiple occasions which shouldn't really be happening. Grier got rid of it really quick on a few occasions and still got hit. And Treon was forced to roll out the pocket multiple times on simple 3 man rushes because the pocket collapse. They're gonna have to improve quickly.

Driskel is much better than he showed while in Gville. Same goes for Brissett. There is a reason for that. That guy is gone now.

Anybody listening to the post game presser? There is on reporter there who is just being a huge douche, like getting loud with coach Mac because he won't commit to naming a starter next week. What is that dudes problem?

Some people didn't want to listen, but Will told you in his opening presser just how bad he was going to be. When we hired Roper, David Cutcliffe told you in mixed words that Roper would struggle under Chump.
