I'm trying to remember a time when my expectations going into a game were so far removed from the reality of how we actually played. I think that is what is making last night so difficult to deal with. I wasn't expecting us to look like a top 10 team or anything, but I was certainly expecting us to look prepared, more disciplined, less mistakes, and a bit more explosive all around (both offensively with the new weapons and defensively with the game plan.
Other than the nice TD catch by Douglas, I don't think there was a single play we made that was remotely memorable.
Having said all that, as others have said, I do see some bright spots with the younger guys. We need to continue to stack talent through recruiting and hopefully, we can improve on our execution and continue to jell as a team moving forward.
As disappointing as last night was, I'm still proud to be a Gator and will do my best to enjoy this season however it ends up going.
Go Gators!
