Any word on if we are gonna get him? Is Stanford or Texas A&M gonna get him? His sister is at A&M. How could one of Florida's best rushers of all time not encourage his son to go to his alma mater?

Emmitt seems like a pretty independent minded guy. He’s certainly not a cheerleader for the Gators like Irvin is for Da U. I have to say that if my kid had a chance to go to stanford, I’d have a hard time advising against it. That degree is as good as any in the country and they put backs in the NFL.

It's really hard to follow in your father's foot steps esp. when he's one of the G O A T

If he has half of his father’s character then he is a good representative of the team and university, regardless of his play.

It would be great to get him, but ultimately it is his son's decision not Emmitt's. Things change over time, offenses run, coaches, the ability for parents to come see him play are all different than what was there when Emmitt made his decision.

I would think a good parent wants whats best for their child. They do their best to give them the best opportunities and try to raise them to make informed decisions on whats best in their life, not make the decisions FOR them as to whats best in their life. Going to Florida was the best that Smith had in his life, but he had more limited options I believe. His kids have the money to go anywhere and can have private tutors or sports trainers to give them an edge that they can probably attend any school they want. Broaden their horizons. If Smith's son chooses Stanford, I would not feel bad one bit about it, that's a good school.

Now if Smith had let his son go to FSU or Jortgia on the other hand.... That's just bad parenting.

Private Stanford has an academic name.
#7 Rated Public Florida is a Public Ivy and an AAU member, not chopped liver... o_O

Which student/athletes get degrees from UF?
Everyone that wants one and works to get it.

UF degrees are known and excepted World-Wide, and Gator-Nation is millions strong and still growing.

Everyone, legacy or not, are free to go anywhere they choose to go.
But you're still either a Gator,,, or you're just more gator-bait...
