Driskel with another 300+ yard passing game

So he's getting great coaching from Skip Holtz, the guy who ran USF into the ground and then was fired? Does not compute. Maybe it's the fact that he's playing lesser comp and he's the most talented player on the field most every game.

I am starting to think Holtz wasn't as much of an issue at USF as we think. He did great at ECU, who was horrendous before he got there. He went into the USF situation at a bad time, maybe he made some mistakes but he had a 9 win season last year. The two losses from this year aren't that bad. They lost to two good teams by a combined 9 points. I think they win another 7 games looking at their schedule.

Back on topic, Driskell is playing much better though. He isn't great but I think he needed a new environment. Muschamp did not help him at all. We can argue that having a different OC every year didnt help either, but he looks much better now, and he has a new OC again. I wish we would have worked out for us, but he didn't. He gave us four years though and dealt with a ton of nonsense from our fanbase. He had no fault in the 2013 season, he couldn't help that his leg broke. It is Muschamps fault for sticking to one guy and having no back up plan. I hope he has a great senior year and improves enough to get drafted.

Not really, it points to stats being inflated due to system. Sort of like all those past Hawaii and Texas Tech QB's who put up huge numbers, were any of them good? And that said, Driskel isn't even putting up big numbers. Driskel has had 40+ attempts in two of the three games. His ypc is still poor and his completion % is actually lower than his average at UF. He's not any better. He's just playing in a system that helps to inflate numbers (see number of attempts) and also playing against lesser competition. I mean he completed 57% of his passes against Western Kentucky for goodness sakes.

Was Danny Wuerfferl and Tim Tebow not good then? They fit the role of their system. They fit what the coach needed and where they lacked that the coach fit their system to avoid exposing their weaknesses and working with their strengths.

Yes the Hawaii and Texas Tech QB's we're good for their system.

Was Troy Aikman not good because he couldn't fit into Barry Switzers OU option offense?

I'm not saying Driskel is great but he is better than Muschamp's style

Well my point was, system can enhance, only in rare circumstances does it hurt good players. Marginal players are the ones most likely to suffer. Did the offense make Driskel look worse than he was? Likely. But he was going to be bad in just about any system. By most metrics, he's still bad in this wide open system even playing lesser comp. He's at best 'average' right now.

The system he played in sucked for sure. But ask yourself why Murphy when healthy looked better than he did and Brantley that first year when healthy looked better too. Never really saw enough of Brissett to know. But just about every QB that got extended time looked better than him in the same system. He just doesn't have it for this level, and I don't think that was going to change drastically in a different system.
