Driskel with another 300+ yard passing game

3 OT but not bad against K State. Didn't watch this game but he had decent numbers last game despite telegraphing stuff as usual. They have a pretty good system at La Tech.

Took a peak at his stats. He has thrown for nearly 1000 yards through 3 games, 7 td's against just 1 pick. Pretty good stuff.

So he's getting great coaching from Skip Holtz, the guy who ran USF into the ground and then was fired? Does not compute. Maybe it's the fact that he's playing lesser comp and he's the most talented player on the field most every game.

A little of both maybe. Early on this season but we've already seen Murphy and Brissett move on to other places and put up better numbers than they did at UF.

Why does nobody want to believe this?

Oh wait, I know. It was Muschamp. He did it.

He played against lesser competition many times while he was at UF many many times. Much more than what he has at La Tech. His latest 300 yard passing game was against Kansas State.

His stats right now are pretty darn good. Nobody said he's all of a sudden a good QB but he certainly is looking better now all of a sudden than at anytime while at UF. It's not his fault he has incompetent coaching his whole career here at UF.

He also didn't play in a wide open spread attack at UF like he's doing now either. If he had, he'd have put up numbers on those cupcakes while here too.

exactly my point. Any offensive player that left under the Muschamp era looked better at the place they transferred too instead of here. First Brissett, then Murphy and now Driskel.

Think about that for a minute even Murphy who went to play for an Addazio offense looked better at BC than here.

Did you miss the previous 4 years? No matter who the OC was it was the same offense, there was only one common denominator, that's right nochamp. He may not have called a single play, but there are plenty of quotes and stories that indicate he was involved in the offense, and that was obviously to our detriment everywhere from recruiting to implementation. CWM was a bad coach and i am starting to think maybe an overrated DC given that we've barely slipped and AU just made LSU look like Nebraska of old.

Driskel needed a step-down in competition and an offense that the rest of the conference hadn't figured out. I still don't think he's a great QB, but at least he's in a much better situation at LaTech. The previous sentence shows how truly pathetic our program became under Muschamp.

And he thinks he'll actually get another shot at being a HC in the SEC again... Then again after the dude-love Foley showered on him at his termination I can't say I blame him.

Fact, Will Muschamp was a disaster, knew nothing of offensive football, and probably ruined this kids career. Watch him play, he looks like an actual division 1 football player now. Not to say Holtz is any good, but nochamp was the worst coach in division 1A.

The leading passer in the NCAA is the Bowling Green QB.

They're 1-2.

So I guess he's awesome too.

He's at a mid major with a loss to UT under his belt, where his team was completely outmatched and they still put up a ton of points. No one is saying Driskel is the end all be all, I think everyone is just saying that Nochamp hurt his career and made him look worse than he was. I believe there is enough body of work available to at least support the discussion.

Most QBs don't play on defense or special teams, both of which have a significant impact on the outcome of games. Sometimes your logic is a bit...head scratching.

L. Tech coach Skip Holtz who was canned by USF. They hired him asap after he was fired.

You are correct

Which points back to coaching. A coach uses his players skills to his advantage.

Not really, it points to stats being inflated due to system. Sort of like all those past Hawaii and Texas Tech QB's who put up huge numbers, were any of them good? And that said, Driskel isn't even putting up big numbers. Driskel has had 40+ attempts in two of the three games. His ypc is still poor and his completion % is actually lower than his average at UF. He's not any better. He's just playing in a system that helps to inflate numbers (see number of attempts) and also playing against lesser competition. I mean he completed 57% of his passes against Western Kentucky for goodness sakes.

Yep. Plus his QBR has declined every week. It will continue to tank if he has to face tougher and tougher competiton.

No no no.

Muschamp makes him suck. Driskel would be a first rounder without him.

You guys know that.

Smh

So you didn't watch UF play offense under Nochamp? They had 3 different OCs, none of them hyper conservative prior to their arrival, and we ran the same stale offense for 4 years. The simple fact is there was only one common denominator. Even if he had NOTHING at all to do with the offense he hired the guys and recruited the players that combined for the worst offensive football UF has put out there in 40+ years. Yes, Nochamp is accountable for some of JDs issues and certainly for the condition of UF football right now, we're in a 4 year rebuilding job and it is entirely his fault.

You're one of those Muchamp Bitter Enders aren't you?

The obsession.
