We've been there.

You had your Urban Meyer, who won you a championship and then left you high and dry (Jimbo).

Then you had your (Muschamp) rebound coach, who took the program to new depths (Willie).

Now you have your faux savior (McIlwain) offensive "genius" from a 2nd tier conference that accelerates the free fall to unbearable levels of despair. (Norvel)

But don't fret, the time will pass quickly, and with any luck you should hire your "forever" coach by 2024!

Norvell is ultra orgnized and a fitness nut! That guy eats zero carbs! His offenses move at the speed of light, just like him! Best thing since Kendal Briles!

I get your point, but jimbo was no Meyer. And he didn’t leave them high and dry, he took a better job. Just bc they managed to keep the most crooked coach in history for 80 years doesn’t mean they aren’t a stepping stone program. The real question is why norvell left Memphis for a worse program

Norvell didn’t even build Memphis. It was Justin Fuente now at VT that built the Memphis program up to be a pretty decent program.

Norvell has been consistently good everywhere he has been and he will be good at fsu. He has blackman... Once blackman leaves and he gets a few yrs to rebuild some other areas i have no doubt he will be good. People dont realize how far we have fallen at the QB position. Franks and Blackman arent comparable, Blackman is way worse, there were rumors of Blackman losing his starting job to chubba Purdy but then purdy broke his collarbone. Do i think that magically fixes everything? Nope. We would have beat G tech tho

Norvell has been good everywhere he has been?? He’s only been a head coach at Memphis. Being a good coordinator doesn’t make you a good head coach. Everybody knows that. We (UF) have seen that first hand. I agree Blackman is pretty bad but you have more problems than just QB. Wasn’t very impressed with Norvell’s play calling. I expected FSUs offense to be much better than it looked yesterday because you were playing GT and I believe GT was also without 3 defensive starters I believe. On the other hand your defense should be much better than it is especially going against a true freshmen QB. Time will tell. Obviously he’s gonna have to recruit good.

I dont disagree with a lot of this. Norvells play calli g is hard to tell how good it is because the players just dont execute. I think he will be fine.

It’s surprising how weak the RB group and WR group appears to be. Did recruiting suffer at those positions also?

RB yes. We have a few good players but they are freshman, our top 2 RBs are Corbin and Webb who are both transfers. Our receivers should be good, we have rly good players there, they just didnt play well at all..... Receiver is probably our best position on our offense... Which... Doesnt say much.

Just bc they (FSU) managed to keep the most crooked coach in history (Bobby Bowden) for 80 years doesn’t mean they aren’t a stepping stone program.
"ih8f$u,
Your point well made !

Though Bowden didn't originate it (NASCAR's Richard Petty, did, I think), the motto - "If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying !" should be tattooed on Bobby's forehead !

Interesting that he only spent 6 months learning from the Master of Skulduggery - Bear Bryant.

"Before Bobby Bowden’s legendary coaching career got started, it was his time in Tuscaloosa and his relationship with Bear Bryant that helped shape him as a coach.

Bowden was originally a walk-on at Alabama and only stayed six months with the Crimson Tide, according to Tommy in our weekly interview."

If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'. The credit for that old saying generally goes to NASCAR legend Richard Petty, though it just as easily could have come from Tom Brady, Gaylord Perry or pretty much any of the millions who have thrown, pitched or hit a ball since people started playing sports.

A few years ago, in a thread talking about adding the scUM back to UF's schedule, I had this to say.

UCF and USF are overtaking the scUM and FSUcks, so maybe we should play then instead.

2019

UCF 10-3 (with a recent NC) 😉

scUM 6-7 - losers

FSUcks 6-7 - losers

USF 4-8 (7-6 in 2018)

I just though that this pot needed a little talking season stirring.... 😇

This is a reasonable position.

But, looking at that schedule, if you continue to play like this, you are going to have 3 losses, maybe blowout losses in your next four. If you had at least beaten Tech, then you would have been 2-1 going into Notre Dame and UNC, even if you lost those a win at Louisville sends you into the break at 3-3 and you have some hope for a bowl and a decent season. Now, you will still very likely lose those games, and will be 1-4 going into Louisville. You will have lost to every team with a pulse, only beating poor little Jacksonville State. Your locker room will be in an uproar; you lose to Louisville, then go into the break 1-5 with Clemson still on the schedule. At that point all your 2021 draft guys are going to walk out, as there will be no point anymore. Without them you will be REALLY bad. If you go 2-9 this year, the noise in the system will be at jet engine level. This hurts recruiting a LOT. Nobody wants to go to a school on the coaching carousel where the current one has people screaming to get rid of him.

To sum up, you better start winning games RIGHT NOW. Well, after the week off.

have to disagree there. If Norvell is calling plays then that last drive should require he be relieved of his duties. Throwing a long pass on 1st down when your offense just needs to pick up a handful of first downs?

"I had been reasonable about my expectations for the Seminoles the entire offseason until the last few weeks. Then, with the excitement of the season approaching, I talked myself into "yanno, this team might be better than you think! A new coach and a lot of talent!" Well, they do have a new coach, and they do have a lot of talent, but they're still the Same Ol' Noles."

Jacksonville state almost beat them a few years ago (Torrey Davis was on that team). They haven’t had their cupcake loss yet. They deserve a few. I don’t know if j-state is any good, but ULM was pretty bad last year and the noles cheered like they had actually won a national title instead of the tainted ones they got for ruining football in the years they were unfairly given one. So let’s not act like they are a gimme.

Well, if they lose to J State, who only has a 4 game schedule and FSU is the first game, then take everything I said and triple it. Maybe quadruple it.

Just let me say, you aren't wrong. They were lucky to beat JSU last time, just like they were lucky to beat Samford. Maybe this time their luck runs out. No one I'd rather see it happen to, except for Georgia.
