I'm asking for Dan Mullen and his apologists who don't think they're necessary. I mean he's such a great coach he can out-coach anyone and doesn't need those players, right? His success at Miss State is proof of that. Not one division title but someone he's an offensive guru, right?

But wait, he was an offensive guru just like Mullen and didn't recruit top 5 classes, right? Mullen can't recruit top 15 classes (that actually make it on compass), but it's different because.... reasons. Right?
Spurrier hated recruiting. It interfered with his golf game. So he surrounded himself with folks that were good at it.
Agreed, but Spurrier would not have accepted sub par recruits like Mullen is happy with. Mullen talks about a Gator standard that Spurrier installed, but Mullen hasn't lived up to it as a head coach because it would admit he can't recruit up to that standard.
Sluttier also turned the college football offense on its ear with Fun n Gun. You don't have to recruit hard when everyone wants to come play for you.
Nobody wanted to play or him until he proved himself. Florida wasn't a brand when he took it over.
