Man. sadgator hasn’t seen slow ball executed so poorly like the last six minutes of that game since 1989...

Absolutely baffling that you would intentionally take your foot off the gas like that with like six minutes to go...

we would/should have won that game going away if we had kept running...

no way that we should lose like that ever...ever...

Huh? Are you just now figuring this out? You must not watch the basketball team very much. This wasn’t a 1 time occurrence. White has been doing that since he has been here.

ORU must’ve been thinking “man this is great, we can’t stop them so they stopped themselves.”
They had no answer for our offense so we shut it down with TEN minutes to go. So you run the clock down to 5 seconds them jack up a desperation shot, or have a shot clock violation, or just turn it over. That’s how you let a team with far less talent win. Worst meltdown since Chernobyl.

Captain Ahab literally had us playing 4 corners...and he hated our players...he is truly one of the biggest villains in the history of Florida Athletics...
I remember that very game against Georgetown. Not that I liked their fans or team, but I felt kind of bad for them watching the Don Devoe sH!t show that day. The final score was something like 56-40.

In 1989, my roommate from Fletcher Hall and myself were at a Gator Hoops game in the Dome...during warmups, my roommate SCREAMED, “DEVOE, YOU ****ING SUCK!”.....so so so loud. Devoe heard it for sure....I almost felt bad for Devoe. Almost.

I had forgotten the Captain Ahab reference...funny stuff. Seriously, the guy was awful, just awful.

At the end of the 1st half, the Gators were 2 of 3 at the free throw line.
With under 6 minutes left to play, the Gators were still 2 of 3 at the FT line.
Fire Mike White because he'll never learn how to control game officials....

I knew this excuse was coming. The officiating was very bad but Mike White blew that game big time.

Mike White caused this loss just like he did with many others we had control of the game. Going to that ridiculous slow down crap until you give up the lead. That should never be done that far out against a team like that.

This game is totally on Mike White and he as much as admitted it in the post game press conference. Just because we didn't take as many free throws as another team doesn't mean the officials were biased against us, as some like to claim. The fact is that White's Gators, especially this year, commit way too many stupid fouls. The officials didn't cause 20 turnovers, which has also been an ongoing problem with White's teams. NCAA tournament games are often decided by a few plays here and there and by coaching adjustments. White's coaching adjustment of slowing the game down because he thought we were tired turned the game in their favor. Their coach made a defensive adjustment on Tre Mann about halfway through the 2nd half and Mann didn't score again. White never made a counter adjustment, nor did he seem to do anything to try to slow down their 2 big scorers, who played every minutes of the game without showing any signs of fatigue. After the game he just said those 2 guys were hard to stop. The tiredness excuse is just a lame one for making a horrible coaching move that took our guys out of their game. We played 8 guys, they played 7, Both teams played overtime games Friday. Tiredness was no excuse. White just blew it, proving once again he's in over his head.

When you agree, it's a solid factual REASON.
When you have a biased AGENDA, it's just an excuse.

Typical, and much like overlooking the FACT that he lost the preseason SEC PoY in the 4th game. The guy that he'd spent the scamdemic off time building his offense around. People acknowledge it, and then quickly and happily gloss over it, try to forget it, and move on as if it never happened. 😏

More excuses from you when he has a loaded roster still. I guess even with the whole season to play he could never adapt to that however and be prepared for Oral Roberts once he took a double digit lead on them.

Think he will finally be prepared for FSU after 7 years?

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz

At this point, I'm almost hoping that Mike decides to GTF outta Socialist-U, and go somewhere that deserves a coach/person like him.
The crappy-corrupt-incompetent officials have almost turned me off to college B-Ball.

The removal of MW in one fashion or another would end any interest that I have remaining in Gator B-Ball, so go for it. Do us both a big favor, as neither he nor I are important to Socialist-U or to their 'entitled' snowflake fans....

I’m just over the in-game coaching flaws. Those dont go away with KJ on the roster or Covid. I’ve seen no improvement or development from him as a coach. I still see the same non-existent offensive system, the stalling of the offense when we are in the lead late in the game and the bad defensive switches we make and get constantly stuck with guards under the rim trying to get rebounds and our big guys out on the perimeter trying to cover guards. It’s just the same ole same ole from White and his staff. It doesn’t take a basketball guru to see the flaws in his X’s and O’s. Not to mention 3/5ths of the starting lineup are transfers (Castleton/Duruji/Appleby). It’s year 6.

His PC response about slowing down the offense last night because of fatigue drew the line for me. Oral Roberts was fatigued and couldn’t defend us and only played 7 guys. Just not sure what is going on in his head.

Gator teams of late play without discipline on both ends of the court. On offense they don't value ball possession, don't move enough to get open, go 1-on-1 way too much and seldom attack the basket under control. That's why they don't get fouled as much as their opponents. On defense, many of the guys don't move their feet with the guy they're guarding and are too slow on switches. They reach and slap way too much and opposing coaches see that on film and so have their players attacking the basket on us, which draws fouls from our guys. It's not that complicated. More often than not we are not as disciplined as the other guys and their coaches take advantage.

UF had 9 foul shots? WTF?

Yeah.

I posted after the Va Tech game wondering if against ORU we would use our size advantage to force things down low, which would have led to layups or kickouts for open three looks, or if we would have our usual scattered offense where we passed it around the outside until somebody jacked a three. 9 foul shots for the game pretty much says it all.

I will say we passed it down a couple times early, which they doubled. But, we didn't have a scheme that gave kickout opportunities, the guy down low with the ball was left hanging, so we stopped doing that. It was just awful to watch. We could have beaten them by 20 if we had any kind of coaching whatsoever.

This is an AWESOME link to a story about how bad it was....sadgator finds it amusing that there was a group callled “SADD (Students Against Don Devoe).” HMMMMMM....

I blame all of that on Arnsbarger. Devoe wasn't a JA in Tennessee like he was at UF. I think Arnsbarger brought him in to do exactly what he did, chase Schintzius off the team. I mean seriously? Get a haircut? Ok, it's a mullet, but it isn't terribly long, and heck, it was the 80's, mullets were in.

They were labeled as the team with the worst haircuts during the Schintzius era.

One of White's assistants just took the head coaching job at Jacksonville U. Tre Mann is going to the NBA. Ques Glover just entered the Transfer Portal and Keyontae Johnson may or may not be back. We have 1 player signed in this year's recruiting class, a 4-star guard. Are any more players leaving and will we get any to come in via the portal? Next year appears to be headed for the same ole same ole, except I see no one on our roster who will come close to replacing Mann.

And yet every single year under White, people keep pointing out what incredible and awesome talent we have...so what is the “same ole” again...?
I guess we found our own version of Kirby Shart, only a little worse in recruiting and chokes against teams his teams shouldn't lose to, like the Gamecocks.

The same ole same ole refers to the consistent inconsistency that his teams play with. Now we see within the last couple of hours that Noah Locke is bailing as well, entering the Transfer Portal. Tell me something's not up inside that locker room?

Something's up for sure. We have only 1 commitment so Mike better get busy in the portal. He's done ok going to the portal.
