12 years on the road as a "professional tourist" I was able to quiz high school students and recent high school graduates in 47 states. I almost always led with, please name one U. S. Supreme Court Justice. Zero correct answers those 12 years. Yes, zilch.
The simplest science question I know: Since primates have walked the earth, how much of our water supply have we exhausted? About 2 percent correct answers.
Oregon is the closest we have to a socialist state. Find me a student who can define civics. I never found one.
