The 6-foot-2, 255-pound Clayton arrived in the Swamp as an Under Armour All-American and five-star defensive end on Rivals, and is still looking to find his groove in a Gators uniform.

“My goal for me is just trying to make a name for myself this year," Clayton said. "I’ve been silent for the first two years since I first got here. Things didn’t go as expected when I first got here. I mean, that’s just something I couldn’t control. Just trying to make a name for myself.

"It’s been three years and I’m kinda' getting frustrated. I got a whole son to take care of now. If I can’t accomplish my goals here, it is what it is. I have a son to take care of. As far as the defense as a whole, I mean I’m all for the defense and them boys make plays.....

“I aint even looked at the depth chart. I don’t know nothing about that," Clayton said. "If I look at it, I mean, like I said it’s next man up. My name’s called then it’s called. If I’m not out there, I’m gonna' be cheering my teammates on. That’s just how it goes.
-----------------------------

I thought he had got his weight up to around 270 looking at pictures from a month or so ago but he is still listed at 255 about what he was last season. I thought this would be his breakout season but he isn't even listed on Mullen's depth chart which is kind of crazy.

In the 2017 spring game he gave Taylor fits on passing plays and I thought he probably just needed a little more weight to get real playing time but things don't appear to be progressing with him right now apparently.

He sounds a little bitter when talking about the NFL stuff and mentioning he has a son now.

Dan and Grantham have both said that they have a large defensive rotation and would like to play 30+ in a game. He'll see the field at some point, then it's up to him to perform. So, good luck dude...

@GrahamHall_: Hard to think of any potential negatives following a 53-6 victory, but former 5-star DE Antonneous Clayton posted a seemingly disgruntled "Yep I'm out ✌" after recording a lone QB hurry in limited action.
------------

Clayton's tweet was deleted afterwards I guess but it sounds like he is pretty disgruntled that he isn't even listed on the depth chart.

Hit the film room, weight room, and practice field instead of Twitter.

Oh and hit the books if you want to make a better life for your son.

I am still trying to figure out what happened with him. He looked like he had at least got up to 270 a while back which is decent DE size and then all at once he is 255 again. I wonder if the coaches wanted him to do that or not. With Jefferson and Polite at that Buck like position he isn't going to get much playing time except in mop up duty I would think.

They had a picture of him and he had clearly put on 15 lbs or so and people said he had got to about 270 but I guess he lost it after that and went back near his playing weight last year which is undersized for a DE especially in a 3-4.

WoW! I sure hope that Jabari, CeCe, Polite, and Moon don't find out that they are not big enough to be effective DE's in a 3-4 system...

They aren't DE's in a 3-4 except Zuniga. They are playing that Buck / LB position - whatever people call it.

Still wanna pic-yo-nits I see,,, so tiring of you.
Last year all but Moon were DE's in a 4-3, and they were big enough then. BTW, they've gotten bigger since last season.
Moon was listed as an OLB in the 4-3, but because of his speed and talent he can play the Star or OLB, depending on the call.

They are 3 deep with size on the other side with these guys ya know:
35. DEs/DT Malik Langham 6-4 286 Fr
17. DE/DT Zachary Carter 6-4 277 rsFr
95. DE/DT Adam Shuler II 6-4 275 rsJr
And they are all BIG enough for ya aren't they? o_O

Kee-rist you've become such a witless whiner....

If they are all OLB's, then they are the largest OLB corp in the nation.
92. DEss Jabari Zuniga 6-4 257 rsJr
77. DEss Antonneous Clayton 6-2 255 Jr

This guy appears to be the perfect representative for this defense, although higher ranked as a recruit than most. They thought their job was done when they got a little bit of high school rep and signed with UF.

Sounds like he is officially transferring. When he wasn't on the original depth chart and after his comments sounded like he had become disgruntled it was probably a lock he was leaving. Hopefully he does things the right way and gets a degree to fall back on since he has a child etc. His earlier statements came off like he thinks he will make the NFL but that won't be easy if he couldn't crack the lineup here.

had a fellow tell me two years ago he was gonna be all American, still waiting

Many Coaches do show favoritism a lot… Happening at UGA right now, even happens in high schools football, Ive seen it firsthand!!

Lemons and Clayton made the same 'ego' mistake.
They put themselves ahead of the 'TEAM' concept that Dan is building.
A non-starter attitude it seems to me....

But good luck to both of them, they are going to need some.

He seemed like a team player with comments last year. You think the coaches aren't playing him over someone he is better than? I doubt that myself

Only so many guys can play. For one right now our DEs are playing very good. Zuniga, Polite & Jefferson. Who is he going to unseat from that group? I believe Zach Carter steps in a provides a few snaps as well. Maybe Clayton is a good player but just isn’t patient enough to wait his turn?

There’s a reason UGA didn’t recruit him ... he’s not good.
Auburn recruited him hard and defensive line is the strength of our team. His cousin is a former Auburn player that is now playing for the Packers in the NFL

Didn't have a true position. He was like 210 coming out of HS as a DE. His body type screams OLB but he's not athletic enough to play there so he's basically stuck as an undersized DE. Oh well, another scholarship for this class.

DE Clayton 6-2 255 Jr

DE Jerrerson 6-1 252 Sr
DE Ziniga 6-4 257 Jr
DE Polite 6-2 242 Jr

I don't think that his 'size' is where he is lacking...

Those guys don’t play the same position. Jefferson and Polite play linebacker in our 3-4. Zuniga plays both linebacker and end but is mostly at rush end too which is a standup linebacker position. The problem is Clayton isn’t fluid enough to stand up and be asked to rush and drop like those three can, so he plays a more traditional end spot where he has to hold the point of attack and he’s too small for that in our scheme.

I swore he got to at least 270 in pictures they showed of him this offseason and then he was listed at 255 again later and looked like he had lost the 15 lb. I don't understand why that happened.

Maybe bulked him so he could play a more traditional end then saw he wasn’t taking to the bulk well. He’s a tweener.

No, that's not accurate, you're a drunk loser without a clue, and Clayton's gone (xfer).

Gawds but you're even dumber than you sound here daily.
Go back and read the last couple of posts, and if it's still to subtle for you (dumb-ass), then get someone sober to splain it to ya...

I was taking a jab at Clayton, saying that he should just move to TE.

You're the one who went all in on this nonsense.

.

Well, how kind of you, to jab one of your brothers in the back. At least he's still got his kid to love and take care of, unlike the real losers of the world.
