Dabo signs largest contract ever for a college football coach, $93M for 10 years

My comment had nothing to do at all with him advocating for players to get paid

It was a comment about him going out of his way to not want them to get paid, while he is making a fortune

You are corrare ct, he should keep his yap shut on the subject

I agree, I think they should be paid something. Not sure I want it to be thousands of dollars, but I do think they bring a lot of money to schools so they should get some of that back.

However, I don't see why you think Dabo hasn't earned the right to comment on the issue. In case you didn't know, he was a walkon at Bama, so he didn't even get a scholarship. So he's lived what he's advocating for.

Bump to new page.

Personally, I don't know how I could care any less about what some other schools coach is being paid.

As long as UF/UAA pays our coaches enough to 'reasonably' keep them, that's good enough for me.

I can't remember if any Gator HC coach in any sport has ever been bought away with more money? o_O

Has it ever happened? (lose Ast coaches all the time that move up, but that's different and happens everywhere).

Dabo is passionate about maintaining amateurism
How nice
Nothing wrong with getting paid a small fortune
But don’t advocate for amateurism while your agent gets you millions for also being involved in sports
Ass

You really should educate yourself on the fact that All NCAA players that live off campus after their freshman year are already paid a monthly stipend.

"In the academic year just ending, Clemson athletes on full scholarship living off-campus received $1,532 monthly for the cost of attendance, room and board. Cost-of-attendance amounts vary by school."

You should also look into how much Clemson's Athletic Department has taken in since Dabo has been there (hint: It's tripled from 2005 levels).

And what football success means to the overall application process for the Universities of winning football teams.

(hint: 22% increase)

So, college athletes are paid and Dabo has been valuable to the University to a much greater level than 9.3 M annually. He's actually a bargain at 9.3 Million per year!

How much do you think that's going to leave them every month?

That's not really 'paying' the players.

Find a good way to pay all college athletes fairly without violating Title 9. Until then maybe you should keep your yap shut on the subject.

$1,500 per month isn't really paying players?!?!?! Most of their meals are free at the team training facility and the have tons of free clothing through the team, books are through the AD. Wilkins paid $300/ month for rent and spent all his time at the team facilities, (granted those facilities are nicer than anyone else's), how much do you need for pizza and a movies over the course of a month.

1,500 a month is 18,000 per year, add in free meals, free clothes, free books and a bachelor or Arts degree and that is probably a $250,000 value over those 3 years (Wilkins finished a Master's degree in his 4 years!).

I wasn't making $83,000 per year at 19 years old, how 'bout you?

Don’t start a reply with the stale you really should educate yourself, especially when you are blathering

I made no comment oneway or another about college kids being paid. Nothing. That is a different point. But don’t try and ,are yourself look slick with some obvious stuff about stipends.

My singular point, ass, is that Dabo, Dabo, Dabo made a point about amateurism at the same time he accepted his massive multi million dollars

Comes across wrong and hypocritical

That I sent it

Spare your mouth diarrhea for your circle jerk

You're right. You no longer need to educate yourself... since I did that for you.
(was that succinct enough for you?)

Nah all this 'value of the free stuff they are given' BS ain't paying them.

If you don't want to pay them, fine, then don't pay them. But don't give them 'free' bananas in the athletic complex and 'free' training clothes and say you are 'paying' them.

Either give them a check, or don't. But don't refuse to give them a check then act like you are really giving them a check.

read the article, they get a check.

That's standard for college students and you know what I mean.

Either pay the students or don't. But don't claim you're paying them when you aren't.

Here's what I mean by 'paying' them (And I thought this was common sense but you apparently think I am attacking Clemson by making this point. Trying to debate anything with homers is the absolute worst, but I digress...):

"Hey Trevor Lawrence! So last year the Clemson football program made $60 million. Of that $60 million, we've calculated your contribution to that total, and we will be giving you a reimbursement check of $5,367.18 a month above the standard amount the school already offers you to cover living expenses."

THAT is what paying players looks like. Again, if you don't want to do that, then fine. But don't refuse to pay the players, then act like you really are in the form of free bananas in the football complex.
