Schools needed to play the games because of $$ bottom line. And yes, I think anything good or bad at least has an asterisk by it. Do you really thank it's fair that 0-0 teams were ranked mid season? Does UF playing a 10-11 game season weigh equally to the PAC-12 playing 7 games? Many games were playing w/o key coaches, staff and players throughout the season due to COVID, so ya, it's a cluster of epic proportions. I'd say even the MNC winner will look back and go, "Oh ya, that's that 2020 season ring." Not that it's a wash by any means, but certainly an asterisk in the NCAA record books. Don't this year's players all maintain eligibility for next year too?
Also, it's of note who the frack has Willie played? We've played 2 top 5 teams and one top 10 and scheduled for another top 5 (beatdown) and add in a previously ranked PITT who's only lost games without their starting QB. So ya, we've lost to two $hitty teams; GA Tech and Louisville. Doesn't excuse anything...we suck plain and simple, but who the frack has Willie played comparatively?
And back on topic, Norvell handled Dabo's boo-hoo whine-fest pretty well today. I guess the medical staff was scared to play Clemson because Norvell had zilch as far as input went into the decision.
Norvell also addressed the response from Clemson coach Dabo Swinney -- who said FSU administration used COVID-19 as an excuse for cancelling the game -- and reiterated that the decision not to play Saturday was absolutely related to concerns over the virus. When asked if the game was postponed due to COVID concerns, Norvell responded "absolutely."
"It was something, this decision was made by medical advisors, professionals that received the information Friday night, from Clemson. And there was concern," Norvell said. "There was concern in a lot of different aspects from where that situation was and just the experiences throughout the week. That was the decision medical advisors made there Saturday morning, and I'm appreciative of the protocols there on Friday and being able to have that test in place."
NORVELL ON POSSIBLY PLAYING CLEMSON IN DECEMBER - “Absolutely. You sit there, you have two teams who have an open date there in December, it’s a great opportunity for this rivalry to continue, and we’re excited to see it here in Tallahassee. I know that there’s a lot of things being said when it comes to financial, and if contributions need to be made, then I’ll sign up to make one.
“But we definitely want this game to be played here in Tallahassee with two teams who have an open date, an open opportunity. We’re excited for our fans, for our players to be able to have that experience, and to be able to go out there and compete.”
