That’s a very interesting number.

Have a little perspective of this. First of all the number is a gross underestimation. Probably 3 to 4,000,000 cases worldwide including people that just never got tested, never really got sick, or countries that don’t have enough test kits or under report like China.

Keep in mind though that there are 6 billion people in this world. That means that even if my highest number is correct that only 0.06% of the worlds population has contracted coronavirus.

That means there’s probably a lot of natural immunity and probably large pockets of the worlds population that have not been exposed.

That said it’s still a staggering number for an infection that just started to pop up it’s head about six months ago. And the United States has had an explosion of cases in the last three weeks.

The world is never truly ready for a pandemic either. Not one of biblical proportions. Just imagine an infection that would infect 25% of the worlds population. If an infection this size can outstrip our resources imagine what an infection that bad would do.

Also imagine infections like this before the advent of germ theory and antibiotics. I mean today we’re struggling to save a couple hundred thousand people because were running out of life support machines. Imagine what it was like in 1918 when they had nothing except the concept of germ theory. Or imagine the 1500s when bubonic plague killed 1/4 of Europe’s population in less than 100 years.

Staggering to think about. Just some perspective as we all go through this troubling time. Again do your part for mitigation the fewer cases the more people we can save.
