I felt I owed the site an update on what I know regarding the Player Personnel Director and also the OC/DC situation. I understand, and share the frustration regarding the OC situation. I wanted to say a few things. First, in my opinion there is a LOT to like about Coach Napier...a lot. Dan Mullen left Coach and his staff with a pile of crap, both talent and culture. Coach has turned that around and quickly. Someone asked why kids like Montgomery, VB III and Dallas Wilson would sign with UF...because they and their families love Coach Napier. I've become good friends with Tramell Jones Sr and the family...awesome people. They LOVE Coach Napier. They've told me the culture between UF and FSU is so different and UF so much better. If he just will realize that by giving up the OC responsibilities, we will have a better offense and he will be a better HC. I think he will get to that point. I do have a meeting with him in a few weeks to discuss. I am not in a position to tell him what to do, but I can voice my opinion (again) and he does respect and will listen to me.
Also wanted to be clear that he never has lied to me. I had several others in our administration tell me that hiring an OC was a condition of his vote of confidence. So don't go throwing stones saying BN lied to me. What was actually said between SS and BN when they met, I'm not privy to nor are any of you.
We have built a nice roster. We will add a few more pieces in the portal. We have a roster than can compete with anyone on our schedule. In my opinion, hiring a great OC and a few defensive staff changes will get us there. I want to see BN succeed as badly as anyone. Lets see what transpires over the next 60 days before spring practice starts. I ask to be positive and supportive of our Gators!
