If you want to see a stat that shows you the problem with Franks just look at our 3 bigger name receivers. Jefferson, Cleveland and Grimes are all averaging around 30 yards or less a game this season.

So what? Cleveland is 3rd string and barely gets snaps, he plays almost exclusively on special teams and he dropped a good bit of the throws that came to him early in the season. Grimes is running 2nd string right now too. How many yards are 2nd and 3rd string receivers supposed to have? Beyond that Mullen’s offense is run heavy regardless of who the QB is, always has been always will be. Y’all need to find something else to complain about because it’s not changing.

How many WRs have caught passes this year? We don’t light it up throwing the ball around the park but we spread the ball around all over the place. Lots of guys are getting PT.

Exactly. It’s a spread offense, the entire point is to spread the ball around to multiple people so the defense has to account for everybody. It was the same way on our 07-09’ teams. Nobody had Big receiving numbers. Our backs split reps and we had multiple guys with 400 or so rushing yards. The offense isn’t designed to feature anybody. And on top of that Mullen is a run heavy coach, people seem to think that’s gonna change with another QB. When either of the Jones’ finally starts we’ll have even LESS receiving numbers because Mullen is gonna run the QB more, which he barely does now with Franks. So I assume people are gonna be bitching about or lack of receiving numbers then too.

Proof of my point...in 08’ when we won the title Tebow threw the ball 298 times in 14 games. Franks has already thrown it 273 times and we’ve only played 11 games. Mullen is letting Franks throw more than he let Tebow throw it, and Tebow was a better passer. Franks will easily pass the amount of attempts Tebow had with less games. Mullen doesn’t WANT to have to dropback and throw often. He’s a run first coach. More than likely our passing numbers will keep going down as he gets his full system in. It’s a silly complaint that doesn’t really have anything to do with Franks. That’s the system.

those Gator teams were power running teams with the qb playing the power running back with pure speed hitting the edges or gashing holes. You had to respect the power running option of a 240+ back pounding you which often opened up those ridiculously fast RBs to gain huge numbers. The RBs UF has right now is a scary thought if you had a better passer at what this team could already be by not having to subject the qb to pounding it out when you have the best of both worlds in speed and toughness in Scarlett and Perine. Pierce having both combinations makes for a bright future as well. Meyer never got one of those backs while he was at UF. He had the power at QB and the speed at RB. Mullen has the hybrid already on the roster.

Just a FYI on the subject at hand.

Number of carries on the 2018 season:

Jordan 5-11 210 - 102 for 629 net yds, 6.2 ypc, 3 TD's
Perine 5-11 227 - 115 for 621 net yds, 5.4 ypc, 5 TD's
Pierce 5-10 216 - 60 for 410 net yds, 6.8 ypc, 2 TD's

Franks 6-6 240 - 84 for 230 net yds, 2.7 ypc, 6 TD's - QB 7.4 yds/att
Jones 6-2 199 - 14 for 27 net yds, 1.9 ypc, 0 TD's - QB 7.8 yds/att
The team runs in down the field, then Franks takes credit for the TD...
QB rushing stats are negatively impacted by scramble runs and sacks.
~ In 2008, Tebow ran for 3.8 ypc and threw for 9.8 yds/att.

Toney 5-11 190 - 18 for 199 net yds, 11.1 ypc, 0 TD's
Hammond 6-0 194 - 2 for 32 net yds, 16 ypc, 1 TD
Raymond 6-2 249 - 2 for 16 net yds, 8.0 ypc, 0 TD - TE/FB
JMOHO, but Franks should run less, with the above 3 plus Pierce getting more.

Clement 5-11 202 - 4 for 17 yds, 4.3 ypc, 0 TD
RB and bsck-up FS, Fr redshirt

M.Davis 5-11 191 - 13 for 61 net yds, 4.7 ypc, 0 TD's
Injured out for the season, in the 3rd game.

I could care less about of the receiving/passing stats...I want an offense that can move the ball and score points. That's ALL that matters IMO...WIN

Dear Dan,

It's more important to win vs FSUcks than it is against any bowl opponent.
So, if you need Emory in that game, then use him.
Kyle might be back for the bowl game, and if not you've still got Franks and Toney for the bowl.
JMOHO's of course....

PS -- For the dog-poker and the nailed-head choker...
Rivals Recruiting Stars are the be all, end all.
However, Gators 3 Star DE Jachai Polite has 8.5 sacks, the most for a UF player since 5 Star DE Dante Fowler Jr. had 8.5 in 2014. o_O

To be honest I’m surprised we have thrown the ball as much as we have this season.

Who are you to tell Dan Mullen what the FSU game is all about?

Because you're a pompous "super fan?"
