Chip Kelly deciding between UCLA and UF?

What does a show cause ban in football have to do with basketball players getting arrested for shoplifting? Is it worse than our credit card fraud charges? Nobody’s worrying about the show cause stuff. UCLA fired Mora in season for a reason. Doesn’t mean they get him, but I would bet they’re good no to try.

“Why, yes, of course dear...sadgator would love a back rub and a beer. Keeping up with a coaching search all day is tremendously stressful and exhausting.”

“UCLA is moving on to someplace else, according to my source,” Martin added.”There ya go. There’s a lot of other evidence out there. They don’t have the cash to get Kelly. Nobody in our group of people, who are pretty smart, has heard a single word from anybody talking about Kelly and UCLA. They haven’t heard the Kelly people talking about it. I never bought into the UCLA thing.”

Buddy Martin has sources at UCLA? He also just acknowledged on Twitter that his reporting on Kelly’s 49ers buyout being the reason for a delay was “theoretical.” Gators obviously thought they had a done deal or close to it on Sunday. The whole UAA isn’t flying up there otherwise. Either they signed him and are keeping it under wraps or there is a problem.

This is the timeline that concerns me: Gators fly up there on Sunday, reports leak that it’s a done deal; UCLA fires Mora on Sunday; Chip doesn’t sign.

The 49ers contract thing just seems like nonsense. You don’t think the 49ers are going to litigate and depose everyone as to the substance of their conversations on Sunday before they just hand over $5 mill to a guy they fired?

Certainly a highly dubious claim on the face of it. Maybe he schmoozed up a storm, over 120 mi. closer to Baja California, when a Galenless Gator football team embarrassed itself versus UCLA in the 1989 Holiday Bowl. Altho' that's nearly 30 years ago now.

It's been a lonnng time since Fred Pancoast was out there. As a nominal step up from being head coach at Georgia Tech, albeit in the shadow of Bobby Dodd. Pancoast ended his head-coaching tenure at UCLA by being fired. There was no ESPN back then to provide a soft landing.

Sooo, we need to accept a new sportswriting practice: Making a big splash by publishing mere guesses on a mostly reputable sports Web-site, then retract it only where twits hang out? Heeey! Whatever happened to just not publishing guesses as if they're facts when you have no proof!? What the hey-ell!? Haven't we already got enough clueless writers stirring the pot with guesses, hoping that readers will remember their by-lines appearing first over the eventually correct scenario, confident that those same readers will forget the multiple times their by-lines appeared over factually wrong scenarios for the same coaching search? Great way for Buddy to discredit whatever he writes from here on out!

One day you're going to slip, and call him cow chip, and we will know for sure that you really are Insta.

I think UCLA contracts with Under Armour and Kelly has close ties with Nike. Phil Knight is not a fan of Under Armour. Maybe this will be a deterrent and Kelly is just using UCLA as leverage.

Everything I've been reading sounds like Chip is headed to UCLA. So, we lost Kelly to a basketball school that trails UF in basically every important historical category (wins, bowls, titles, Heisman's, etc.). If that doesn't scream that UF just isn't a top job, I don't know what does. That, and the fact that our last two hires were laughable.

Bring on four more years of mediocrity, yippee.

This went from exciting to depressing really quick.

You guys need to chill.

Or maybe some snag was hit for which the best response seemed to be to set aside what might be sensibly be assumed to have been a series of not-perfectly-productive telephone or interactive-video conference calls, and just go up there.

Altho' the top-level U.F. organization is seriously fouled up if a draft contractual log-jam can't be resolved without the U.F. president in person. But assuming travel by private jet, it costs no more for him to ride along to such a scenic place (altho' it may be way too late in the year for New England's famed "fall colors"). Portsmouth is New Hampshire's principal seaport. So how about American lobsters? Is the New-England lobster season open, or are there still healthy future entrées awaiting their fates in the tanks of Portsmouth fishmongers?

This is the timeline that concerns me: Gators fly up there on Sunday, reports leak that it’s a done deal; UCLA fires Mora on Sunday; Chip doesn’t sign.
So the "reports [that] leak[ed]"--note that wondrous English-grammar construct: the weaseling passive voice--weren't worth a day-yamm. Like an irritatingly large number of other recent breathlessly urgent complete wastes of time.

She's bad a hell....outside of good post...Sad has a list of hot chicks to post...there is always space on the board for that!

It's hard to tell what point you're trying to make between your impenetrable writing and your forced seafood jokes. Suffice to say that anyone who writes:

Or maybe some snag was hit for which the best response seemed to be to set aside what might be sensibly be assumed to have been...

shouldn't be criticizing anyone's "English construction."

As for your conclusion that:

the "reports [that] leak[ed]"... weren't worth a day-yamm.

I don't know what you're talking about. The meeting happened. How were the reports worthless? My point was that Kelly and his agent may have put the information out there to put pressure on UCLA and actually may have succeeded in forcing open the job that Kelly really wanted.
