Can Mac be fired for cause for running a renegade football program?

Mac is running a renegade football team with all these players being arrested or cited/investigated for terrorizing and shooting at girlfriends, sexual assault, possessing illegal drugs, driving with no license, and using performance enhancing drugs etc.

Now it appears about 20+ more felony charges can be added to the list under Mac's tenure. I think he has already easily passed Meyer's felony charges total and Meyer was here 6 years and Mac hasn't even been here half that time yet.

Those last second wins against UT and UK were apparently a curse in disguise. This could have been your ticket to first dibs during the next Coaching Carousel.

Yep this story with the coming arrests would have put a lot more heat on Mac if we had lost to KY.

This is right. He's not going to get fired for the credit card stuff, but it could have provided convenient cover to the UA to get rid of him without looking like complete fools for extending him. It also could have provided some leverage in buyout negotiations. No question if we had lost that Kentucky game, and this came down the next day, everyone would be talking about an in-season firing. But thankfully, UK forgot to cover our wideout not once but twice, leading to our second bat-spit-crazy come-from-behind victory against a mediocre team in a row, and so everything is cool.

Right. We didn't lose, so everything is cool. And ask Ron Zook if bad losses and off-the-field disciplinary problems can get you canned in-season.

And after only nearly three years.

I think Mac's buyout is a good reason for him not getting fired.

But we didn't lose to UK. Nobody is getting fired in the middle of the season anyways.

2 out of your 3 previous coaches were fired in the middle of the season -- unless you are taking "middle of the season" literally and only count firings that occur between games 6 and 7 as "middle of the season."

I agree. It's probably the best reason. The UA would look like fools and it would cost a ton of money. Uniformed's point, which I agree with, is that the credit card situation would give the UA some cover, certainly with the PR aspect, and potentially the financial aspect, depending on Mac's contract.

They weren't in the middle of the season though. That is correct

For one I never said everything is "cool". So not sure where that is coming from. #2 we didn't lose whether you like Mac or not that is a fact that we didn't lose to U.K. #3 Zook was fired at the end of the season with 1 game to go after losing to a 1-10 Miss State team. #4 the off the field disciplinary problem was Ron Zook threatening to fight fraternity kids himself.

I said "in season" firing. You said middle of the season. What I said was that if we had lost to Kentucky and then this came down, Mac's seat would be absolutely on fire, which is true.

Lol that game was played in mid October with the Gators sitting at 4-2. Zook was fired the week before the UGA game and there was like 5 or 6 games left.

We won 3 games at State that year, and Zook was fired the very next day after the game in October
