Having graduated from Ole Miss in 1973 I have had a lifetime to understand the world doesn't end with wins an loses on the football field. I have been proud of Ole Miss in the good days (very few since the 70's) and the bad...even yesterday. But after moving to Florida 33 years ago I consider myself a Gator fan. This is my home and I was even rooting for the Gators when they played Ole Miss.
I think all Gator fans should be glad Hugh Freeze did not come to Gainesville, as rumored, and that the Gators have the coach and staff they currently have. (Almost) all SEC teams have great talent, but "Mac" clearly knows how to "coach'em up". Hugh Freeze is not a good game coach, neither is Mark Richt. Les Miles is lucky that he has awesome, awesome talent.
How many Gator fans would have been thinking someone was delusional in August if they said the Gators would be 6 and 1 at this point? But here we are and we control our own destiny about winning the East and going to Atlanta. Wouldn't it be great to replay LSU on a neutral field?
This is what I wish Gator fans would dwell on. The gators are much better than anyone could have dreamed and the future is bright. Enjoy the games, learn from the losses, but whether the team wins or not, support the team. That is college football.
