Unless I missed it, I have not seen Jason post a story with where Billy and his small staff will be today. We know Billy is going to be doing some recruiting today but we haven't heard just yet. Looking at the commit list I believe he has only visited McClellan. Hopefully because it is a real position of need, he visits Jamari Lyons but I would not put my money on anything right now when it comes to Napier and what his plan is and/or what he sees on tape with kids. So in my opinion we have 1 commit right now, Chris McClellan. I don't feel very confident in Walker Howard, I get the connection there with his family, first offer and they are from Lafayette, so I'm sure he has been around Billy a lot. But unless Walker shows up for an OV this weekend and/or pushes his signing date until February, I wouldn't put much confidence into him replacing Evers.
People are creatures of habit and will often rely on what they have previously done. I believe Billy's opening statement at Florida was very similar to the one he said when he got UL job. Not signing a large transition class at UL worked out for Billy, as he had 3 very successful seasons at UL including an outright conference championship in 2021. So I'm not shocked that he is probably going to go about it the same way here. I would like to caution Billy though, because as we have said with Mullen plenty of time, this is not the University of Louisiana. We might give you a 7-8 win season in your first year but by year 2 our expectations start to creep up into that 10 win range. For instance, would Mike Norvell have been fired already if he was the HC of Florida? Yep. So I hope this slow, methodical process pays off for you Coach because we aren't going to be as patient as you asked us to be as time goes on.
