“You look at them in warmups,” an SEC assistant told Feldman, “guys with their T-shirts hanging out. They look sloppy. A little too nonchalant, too rag-tag. They think they’re better than they are.”

Feldman pointed out that Mullen started 29-6 at Florida, but is 4-7 since. What’s more, Florida is 2-7 in its last 9 games against Power 5 opponents.

“They play with zero discipline,” another coach said. “They don’t play hard.”

I hope something major changes between now and 2022, because I can spot 4 -5 losses on there if things remain the same. Utah will come to play and C. Rising is definitely under the radar.

I’ve lived through the Spurrier, zook, Meyer, muschamp, mcelwain and Mullen eras, and I seriously don’t think I’ve ever seen the fan base as angry. Not even in 2013 the worst year in the history of college football. People didn’t like most of those guys, but this is as bad as I’ve seen it. He needs something good to happen soon. If he really snapped in a team meeting today that’s a good sign that at least he’s not getting complacent. I felt like mcelwain and that staff just quit. If Mullen is pissed now is the time to rip some people a new one, and sleeping in a meeting after that game might be it. My lord! These guys get to suit up for the might Gators and they’re sleeping? After getting embarrassed? Do they know how many of us would kill for the chance to run out of the tunnel into the Swamp? Much leas even get in a game? And can any of you imagine the pleasure I’d take in flattening a nole? (I could do it. I’m 6’4” 250) You get that privilege and you don’t care enough to show up to a meeting and pretend to care? I hope Mullen rips them and the staff a new one. I also guarantee you that Dameon Pierce wasn’t the guy who was sleeping. That kid brings it. I respect him as much as I ever have any Gator.

Edit: because apparently autocorrect thinks it’s funny to imagine college football being played in 1013. And I have to agree that it is kind of funny, but still, f&$7 autocorrect

Although I agree with some of this and even though one year ago we had just throttled Georgia and were in position for a SEC championship as well as a shot at the CFP we are not down to that level. Somewhere this past year things started to go sideways. Dan needs to recommit himself as he did when he first arrived.

I hope he snapped because he gets defensive anytime he is asked about something. Saying we had more yards or saying we beat Georgia last season besides recruiting are bad answers. He has a losing record to GA and LSU and is 2-2 against KY. Unless Richardson turns out to be a good one I think 2022 will probably be it. You can't be 1-4 against GA while letting them kill you in recruiting.

This is not as bad as Muschamp.

It really isn’t even close.

Everybody seriously needs to chill out.
At that time UGA was decent but FSU was peaking. Bama was Bama then and Auburn was doing nice things. We let rival 1B become a power while we sputtered. Now we've let rival 1A UGA basically build a powerhouse while we've sputtered.

You may feel different but I feel like I did back then. Rival peaking and we've done 0 to slow down Bama. Only UGa and Bama can slow down each other or themselves. We've done very little to slow it down.

Hell, the Gator football team hasn't played hard in over a decade. They quit before the seasons over almost every year. The culture is not good.

Respectfully disagree. They have played hard under Mullen. They certainly played hard against Bama…the last two times they’ve played…the past two regimes would have never have even been competitive in those games…

sadgator knows that everybody is all depressed and moping right now…but the breakdowns have been unique in each of the games Florida has lost this year…and really, they could have won any of them but for UGA…

It is indicative of a young team trying to replace a lot of talent and find itself…and every single person (except Fever) knew this team would take a slight step back this year before we started the season…

Overall the energy and “culture” of the program under Mullen is SO much improved over Mac and Mus…people have to acknowledge that…

The UGA loss was bad and the recruiting thing is a concern, but people also need to recognize that Dan has totally kicked ass at acquiring portal transfers and in player development. He is also one of the best play callers out there. Those are big components today. The situation is nowhere near as dire as everyone is making it out to be…

That said, as sadgator has already pointed out, they would do well to win out and look good doing it…and they really need to show up in the Bowl game…if they come out flat and/or look like crap down the stretch…the negative momentum of the public “outrage” is going to consume the program and become a self fulfilling prophecy.

I could care less about the bowl game though I am not sure how many NFL guys we have this year that might skip out. A loss to either SC, Mizzu or FSU would be a really big blow. I think looking at some social media and the rest recruiting compared to Georgia is what has people riled up the most right now after that beatdown. Its hard to pIcture a win over them or having any chance to win the SEC short of the QB totally changing the dynamic like Trask did last season.

We made fun of FSU at the beginning of the season....but if you watched them the last couple of weeks.....they are definitely improving. There's a growing number of people that believe FSU is capable of winning against UF.

Oh yeah? Was it hard to picture that just last season when it was a damn near reality? Was it hard to picture us potentially beating Alabama while Florida was lining up for that two point conversion in Game 3 this season?…Was it hard to picture Florida winning either of the two road games it lost by 7 points each?…seriously…

People “picture” what they want to “picture.” And with all due respect, you haven’t been a Mullen fan from Day 1. If you aren’t onboard that’s fine, just objectively acknowledge that your reaction and a huge percentage of the reaction here is primarily emotional.

There are clearly some items of legitimate concern, but to say you can’t “picture” a coach doing something he just literally did the year prior is silly. If you don’t want to “picture” anything positive, you simply won’t…

Well no shit Sherlock…they were just almost “capable” of beating Clemson…

Those will be the the same people who will be bitching up a storm when we don’t beat FSU by “enough.”

Hell, LSU was CAPABLE of beating UF twice in the past 12 months with inferior talent.

That was crazy they could be missing 9 starters and still beat us.

Mullen talking about having top guys when getting here. Trying to think of the top talent that he has recruited here that are clearly going to be earlier round NFL picks - Pitts, Elam and the 2 recent 5 stars.

And LSU was missing their #1 receiver who already had like a million yards and a thousand TDs.

I've been around since Bob Woodruff was the Gator coach in the 50's, followed by Ray Graves, Doug Dickey, Charley Pell, Galen Hall and Gary Darnell. I assure you that this year, nor 2013, are the worst years of Gator football. Doug Dickey had 2 4-7 teams in the 70's that were every bit as bad as Muchamp's 4-8 team and Charley Pell's first year in 1979 we went 0-10-1. And McElwain's 2017 team that finished 4-7 was pretty bad as well. I do agree, however, that Gator football is trending in the wrong direction and if we don't win out and finish 8-4, this will be one of the most underachieving and disappointing years in memory.

Yeah, I’m very aware that I came along at the exact right time to start being a Gator fan (Spurs first year) so I respect you guys who lived through those years.

I caught Pell's first year (no wins) as a young kid but he made us a national power before Spurrier - got put on probation however.

Pell's 'Great Wall of Florida' probation fell on his replacement, Ailin' Galen.
Galen's 'death by a thousand small cuts' probation fell on SOS.

Steve demanded full control of the football program before he'd take the job, and he got it.

Now the new generations of fans never knew, or they have forgotten the what and whys of probation, and only care about bragging about the things that they really have no part in accomplishing.

Alumni and fans eventually ran Steve off with their stupidity and demands.
Now they might very well do the same to Dan.

I dont believe that myself no matter what was said. I think like a lot of them he wanted to try his hand in the pros and he would have been our coach again if Meyer wasn't available and already given the job by Machin in reality..

Exactly. He wanted to try his hand in the NFL while he still had a little young age in him. Exactly right he came right back to wanting the UF opening.

Each of us knows what we know.

For a guy that considers a brush by from Mrs Sad as scoring, I see why you think the "almost win" vs Bama is the measuring stick.

We lost. We lost to them last season as well. Did Spurrier poke his chest out on close games vs FSU when they were a dynasty? No. He beat them several times and was always mad when losing to them.

*On a side note I know you probably score with Mrs Sad 3 times a day minimum. But the act of no play rubs off on your football wants and needs*

Funny…but the point was that they play hard…

There is no doubt in sadgator’s mind that the program under Mullen is improved over the past two regimes and is more in line with what sadgator identifies as Florida football…

We have a long way to go…but we knew this…Dan took over a team that was literally emerging from 7-8 year hangover and has made it legitimately competitive…

Again.,.the UGA loss sucked and there are legit concerns about recruiting (portal notwithstanding)…but anybody who wants to kick Mullen to the curb because of a disappointing season and start over when ANOTHER unproven and uncertain commodity is nuts…

Mullen is much better than McElwain and Muschamp and the program is in better shape now then when he got it. He does have some dead weight on staff and how they approach recruiting has to change. Will he make those changes and will they be made soon enough remains to be seen.

Yep he either makes the changes or he will be gone as you cant keep letting Georgia destroy you in recruiting like that. He has put himself in a bad position letting it reach this point in his 5th year where he has to hope QB play can save 2022 because we will certainly be overmatched talent wise by Georgia again in 2022.

It’s what some in Dawg Nation used to say about replacing Richt…who ya gonna get? I was not one of them.

We could have have won that game if we hadn't given them 21 points in 50 damn seconds. Georgia's offense isn't very good, its that their defense is exceptional.
Based on what evidence? You're not going to go insta and say that every single other thing in the game would have stayed the same if you took that sequence of events out, are you?
