Gives me more faith in Napier. He was probably copping an attitude when they showed his lack of discipline was allowing those big runs. He is mostly a guy going after stats when you watch the defense on tape. Covers a lot of ground quickly but constantly not holding the edge etc.
Probably a bunch of stuff to actually be dismissed and not just suspended for a game.
Honestly - anyone not 100% on the Napier train, especially Jrs and Srs - get the eff out!
I'm sure Cox whiffed out toward the exit door.

Huge loss talent wise, maybe an upgrade attitude wise. You don't randomly get kicked unless you are problem lol
Cox can take Dean with him. Unfortunately these guys were seniors anyways but we need to open up a lot of scholly’s. I expect many more to come.
If discipline and team mentality is why he’s gone well I think we can spare him. I’m surprised this hasn’t happened earlier with coach Napier. He seems to be a no nonsense coach.
First, I don’t know what happened with Cox but any of you guys that have played team sports knows how one selfish or negative player can disrupt team spirit. You just can’t have it no matter how talented he (or she) is. When things get tough that’s when you have to come together. That won’t happen with a me individual.
I think we will be fine. I think it would be nice to make a bowl game to get the extra 3 weeks of practice. (Though if we miss, the Billy boys will tow the company line and say its better anyway.)
i don’t see implosion, he is recruiting well, and I think that will keep the critics away. The Toney decision will be a big one, IMO

Its good to get mess like this taken care of year one. The bad record and the headaches on the team.
Florida is #117 in total defense as of today, but we moved up past Colorado and are now #130 in 3rd down defense. How much worse can we get without Cox? It'll give younger guys more opportunities, which I think we should be doing more of at all positions down the stretch.
The defense has been imploding for a couple or 3 years now. Probably 50% coaching and 50% player attitude. Grantham probably poisoned the player well too. Lots of bad angles, lack of contain responsibility on pass/run blitzing. Another rebuilding year, and maybe on the DC side as well. Most of the players give good effort, in spite of the UGA score they exceeded my expectations on D. Had one really horrible break on a tipped ball and a bullshit call on PI. Could have been a lot closer game.
From what I was just told is that Cox has been given a very long leash by Napier to try and help him and give him a chance, especially since he is a senior. But this weekend was the final straw that broke the camels back. This will be the first of more but this one had to happen now. Lots of bad eggs left over from Mullen when the inmates we’re running the asylum. Some have no idea how bad Mullen let it get as far as lack of discipline, etc.

I swear I saw that in the ESPN article about it. I don't remember it happening, but I was also decently drunk and frustrated by....mmm...the second quarter?
I probably would have wrote that a little more apologetic for the NFL evaluators. Curious to see where he goes in the draft as some places seem to like him in the NFL while others say he cant get off a block well when facing NFL talent level Tackles in college.
I would say this is a mark in CBN favor. You can't just do whatever the hell you want with no consequences.

Whatever the reason is for the dismissal, it is apparent that Napier is valuing the long-term foundation of Florida football rather than trying and putting a band-aid on a problem to salvage the rest of the season.
It’s unfortunate because Cox was having a great season on the field and was one of the bright spots for the Gators’ defense,
but
Napier is letting it be known that no player is above the expectations he is setting.

Frankly, unless Napier said anything specific, I would have left out the bits about his behavior being misconstrued and being disappointed about being dismissed.
I would have let nfl scouts ask the "why?"s......but that would only happen when you have one foot already in the team's door.
How come every single time any person with any prior affiliation to UGA infiltrates our football program, it winds up being a disaster? Seriously…when are we gonna learn?
