Big time WR commits to UF

Florida has never gotten players from Ocala Vanguard, The school is about 2 miles from my house and they always have a good team that sends players to D1 schools regularly. We have 2 commits from there for 2021 and now this guy. There's also a big time O-linemen in the 2020 class that Mullen & Co. are after. Hope we get him, too. Gooo Gators.

You're his 3rd team to be committed to I believe. Long ways to go but I suppose it's better to have him committed than not.

It's a culture thing man, Dan is building relationships in parts of Florida that were Cane green or Seminole red. Win the state of Florida was his first order.

We all know Dan can coach 3 stars up, now imagine what he will do with 4 and 5 stars. This guy gets our culture, keep dumping on his recruiting if you want.

I didn't dump on the kid. I just pointed out it's a long ways until signing day. I would love to have the kid.

I didn't say you dumped on the kid, I meant the legion of Georgia fans and some Florida fans who continually say Dan can't recruit. I haven't heard you say it, but most Georgia fans that come on here use Dan's record in Starkville against top 10 teams as a barometer of his future successes here.

I would love to see how well Kirby would recruit at Starkville. Let's judge Dan by what he does here. If after year 3 the Gators aren't beating top 10 teams or recruiting above the likes of Tennessee, then I will begin to doubt him.

Very fair comment about truly judging Dan after a few years. In today's now now now world it's actually refreshing to see some patience. Clemson did very well with this approach... KY as well.
You're correct that I haven't said he can't recruit but I think it's fair to say he's not an elite recruiter at this point. However, I do understand that people evolve. As a Dawg I'd just as soon he stay on his current level but I also realize it's much easier to recruit a kid to Florida over Mississippi State so he doesn't necessarily have to be elite to be successful. Time will tell... but we're winning on Nov 2nd. :D (for @LizardGrad89 )

No we aren’t. You must be getting him confused wirh somebody else. It’s his 1st commitments he’s ever made.

The 2020 class is going to be Elite. Already #3 recruiting class and all kinds of good things going on behind the scenes.

He already beat 2 top 10 teams this year in LSU and Michigan.

We already know he can coach. But Rivals aren’t going to like it but Dan can recruit as well.

Of course these are only verbals, a year out. But it puts your team in the driver's seat. I'd like to see it studied but holding the coaches, circumstances - I bet teams tent to keep 80% of these. If you have 10 highly ranked guys and you know 8 will stick, one year out - that's certainly not a bad thing.

Btw for all the folks that state Saban is the standard - this is what he does.

Dan is having to repair the past 7 years of burnt bridges here in the state of Florida. Back in the 80's and 90's, you never saw the top 10 or 20 players from the state of Florida go anywhere but to FSU, Florida, or Miami. Out of state was not an option. Now a days we're seeing too high of a % of the kids leaving for 3rd world countries like Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and Clempson. First and foremost Dan has to fix that. It won't happen over night or even in the first year. You can't expect him to whip out a top 3 class just like that with what the previous coaches did to our lines of communications.

On that note however, I've never understood what a college coach's relationship or the university's itself with a highschool coach has to do with where the high school players sign. Who flipping gives a hell what the relationship is but for some reason they are always talking about that. If I'm a football player and I'm going to choose a college to attend and play for on a football scholarship, that is a decision between myself and my family. My high school science teacher/football coach has no say so in where I sign.

For a lot of high school players, their football coach is very much a father figure. Some come from broken homes and they rely on their coach for a lot more than football basics. If the college coach builds a relationship with the high school coach it can definitely go a long way towards getting some of those players to lean in that direction. The reverse is true as well. Treat players coming from a certain school in what they perceive as unfair or do something to alienate or aggravate a high school coach and it becomes very hard to recruit kids from that school. That happened with Florida in the case of Palm Beach Dwyer after Jacoby Brissett transferred out, followed by a couple of his Gator teammates from Dwyer. Could be wrong, but I don't think we've gotten a kid from there since. And that used to be somewhat of a pipeline to Gainesville.

That would be an awesome finish, no doubt. And don't forget 4 star LB Diwun Black, a 100% Gator commit who didn't sign early, but just reconfirmed that he is signing with UF on NSD.

That'd likely push us to #3 overall - there about anyhow. Elam I expect - MAR is 60% to UF imo, Moore is 40% to UF imo and Bogle is unlikely.

Yeah gbo, but WR Henderson was 100% to FSU, but that didn't prevent him from committing to UF/Dan anyway, so I'll just hold out some hope for those guys anyway... ;)
