DHS was on the boarder and he let ICE do it’s job. I’m talking any branch of the military spread out over the US/Mexico boarder.
But the Dems in Congress opposed everything Trump tried to do at the border. Nothing much will change until BOTH parties decide to work together for a real solution. I am not one who thinks giving millions of people citizenship or even green cards is a good plan. That will just encourage more to come. And fast tracking them to citizenship will piss off all of the people waiting their turn.
Immigration is not my thing. I just know that whatever these presidents have done or is doing, just isn't working.
We should streamline the process for those legitimately seeking citizenship if they qualify. There's no reason that it should take as long as it does. Especially for those already here with a green card, a job and a clean criminal record.
Too many here and unassimilated.
We need to reduce the numbers significantly so those that come must integrate into society and not gravitate to communities of similar peoples and cultures.
How will we know when we have been successful? When Spanish is not being spoken in public, all signs are in English, Hispanics are learning Spanish in HS as a second language, and a majority of Hispanics vote Republican.
Republicanism(conservative) is Americanism.
A truly assimilated immigrant embracing Americanism will be voting Republican.

A lot in here that we disagree on. I have no problem with asking prospective citizens to be fluent English speakers, however.
