grand you must have been on something or watching a different channel because your comment is pure H. S--t. Trump was his same obnoxious lying self. Biden was awful, but himself. LET"S FACE IT MAN THERE IS NO ACCEPTABLE CANDIDATE WITH TRUMP AND BIDEN. Replace Biden, Hell replace them both. If both end up running this country is in for four years of hell. regardless of the winner. By the way, I have seen and followed a lot of stuff you post. I question if this series of drivel was concocted by you. Did you have a ghost writer?
First off, please try to engage in respectful dialogue. I try very scrupulously to not delve into ad hominem attacks and would ask the same. Characterizing my comments as HST is not necessary and not helpful.
To your question, Trump
was disciplined (as opposed to the 2020 debate where he flailed around). For years (going on 5), I have said on this board to broad criticism that a disciplined Trump would be very hard to defeat. Individuals would chime in and "lecture" me on not to get over-indexed on Mean Tweets, etc.
I also said, that in the deepest form of irony, the rules, bans and acts of lawfare have done what Trump so struggled to do on his own - be disciplined. For example:
1. When you are kicked off twitter - no more mean tweets
2. When you are in a court room - no time to tweet
3. When you have a gag order - you cannot tweet on certain topics
....and then, the other night, when you microphone is literally muted, Trump appears Presidential. So, in building off of a common Capt Ron refrain, the Democrats have completely shot themselves in the foot with unintended consequences.
On Trump running the country again, we had three very strong years and then Covid. Trump was spot on with his successes with Covid - he got out Vaccines and Therapeutics in record cycle times. He wanted to open up the country after Easter of 2020 (to round criticism). He strongly opposed mandates. No wars - as people were afraid of what he might do. He pissed off the EU, but that is a group that constantly leverages "American Exceptionalism" to create a "Tragedy of the Commons" dynamic (read: Economics dynamic on free rider benefits) where they pay a fraction of their fair share of NATO and have drugs such as GLP-1 at 1/10th of what we pay.
As Jamie Dimon, the All-In-Pod Cast guys, Stephen Schwartzman, and many others have noted, Trump was very effective.
Then Covid came which was a product of Gain-of-Function research and a lab leak through work funded through Eco-Health alliance and the person who architected that (Fauci) worked behind the scenes to suppress any talk outside of natural origins. That is not just "far right" theory. Even left leaning individuals such as Bari Weiss and even Kim Iverson, essentially a progressive socialist, have said the same. Did Trump do well in that? Some things - actually yes.
This debate actually fully highlighted the deep conspiracy on the Deep State. Bari Weiss said it perfectly last night (btw - Bari is a Jewish lesbian, hardly a MAGA figure), "yes, our own eyes did not lie to us". Anyone who dared criticize Biden's aptitude was MAGA, ageist, etc.
It turns out, our common sense, just as we saw during Covid, was spot on.
The biggest danger, and a point I have made often on this board is that Biden is NOT what the left votes for. Ro Khanna shared this directly. He said, that (paraphrased), "we will continue to support Biden and help him govern". What does this mean? Exactly what our eyes are telling us: Biden is NOT in control of decision making, he is NOT sharp, he is slightly better form King Theoden in LOTR (which was a WWII allegory) and a leader who is explicitly being led by a coalition of long time political operatives, bureaucrats, and others who have driven open borders, poor execution in the foreign theaters, weakness abroad and regulations that have driven up, significantly inflation from mandates and nursing labor, to the initial policy towards fossil fuels.
Was I very pleased with the results from Thursday night? Yes. It greatly increased the changes of us retracking course to a pre-covid US.
Final note, which Elon Musk and Robby Soave from the Hill noted, was how the media, and CNN specifically, finally and perhaps shockingly, moderated a fair debate versus a tilted debate field. And guess what? Trump won, per CNN polling 67 to 33.
