Backup quarterback Cameron Newton was arrested and charged with felony counts of burglary in the second degree and larceny and obstruction of justice in the third degree.
Newton was booked into the Alachua County Jail Friday. The former five-star quarterback has not played since the Hawaii game where he completed 1 of 2 passes for 14 yards.
He has been slowed by various injuries this season including a nagging ankle injury but in recent weeks he's been seen running off the practice field and chest-bumping teammates and coaches. Newton was involved in a minor car accident earlier this month when he was rear-ended by a truck.
According to reports, Newton stole a laptop from a student's dorm room and then threw it out of the window when university police officers visited Newton's room.
