This article does a very good job breaking down our current roster compared to our main competitors and rivals based on the number of blue chip 4 and 5 star recruits. I don't see this article as a major knock on Coach Mac's recruiting prowess (yet). The article does mention some factors that give Coach Mac the benefit of the doubt. The main "problem" the article is referring to is a roster talent problem. Much of that problem is on Muschamp. The article is not necessarily saying that Coach Mac can't recruit blue chip elite recruits at the same level as his SEC peers and peers from rival schools like FSU. It does say that he didn't get it done in this class, but the jury is still out to some degree.
I personally think Coach Mac has done a great job so far with the hand he was dealt. I fully expect that starting with next year's class, Coach Mac will reach and maintain the level of the other teams/coaches mentioned in this article in regards to the number of blue chip 4 and 5 star elite recruits signed year in and year out.
As is outlined in this article, the talent level of our current roster is not up to the same level as these other teams. Until we can close the talent gap even further, we will need great coaching and player development and also hope that Coach Mac and his staff did a better job scouting and evaluating talent such that some of the 3 star kids from his first two classes, exceed their recruiting ranking and stars when it comes to their on the field play.
I think this year's class should have been a top 10 ranked class and I expect we will have a top 10, maybe top 5 class next year. The 2017 season is when I expect that we will be a top 10 team and we'll be ready to start competing again for SEC and national championships.
