I mean, thinking about it historically, and within my own family- My grandfather was an ardent "Anti-fascist" who went to France, armed with an M1 Garand by his country, with the specific purpose of killing fascists. He never really talked about his time in Europe in the 1940's, but from the bits and pieces I heard, seems like he felt he did his duty, so reading between the lines, I'm guessing he got a few.
My grandpa wouldn't tolerate two kinds of people: 1. Scabs- He was a union man through and through working on the railroad, and hated scabs more than anything- to his core. 2. Fascists- He once told me he wished he'd met Nathan Forrest, only so he could "punch him in the goddamn eye."
It makes me think about who decides what "antifa" really is? From what I understand it's an ephemeral group, with no central leadership that organizes activities on closed facebook groups or the dark web... There are no membership cards, dues paid, mailing lists, etc. It's just kind of floating out there. I'm opposed to nazis- Am I one?
We know the black bloc folks use/abuse and manipulate the peaceful folks for cover, as human shields, and as dumb muscle in their own political/anarchist agenda- Should be brought to account. Black bloc are worse than the cops, or the same as- At least with them the cops could catch them with a brick or a hammer in front of a Starbucks.
I'm just worried at how broadly the "antifa" label will be applied, and by whom. How clearly is it defined?
Thoughts? Should be clearly defined, no?
