The officials in this game were wildly incompetent. Some of the more fun things I noticed:
  1. Calling in a replay for two plays prior. That's the first I've ever seen that one. Something tells me the phone rang in the review booth telling them to uphold the call, because it easily could have been overturned.
  2. NMSU driving in the 2nd quarter (their possession before the Grier fumble gave them the ball back). It's 4th-and-3, QB hits his receiver in the flats as he's falling to the ground, LB Jarrad Davis comes up with the ball in his hand. Somehow this is called a completion (short of a first down, though). Somehow they have the gall to call in a review of the spot of the ball.
  3. Only, what, 2-3 penalties called between the two teams. We played a lot cleaner than probably any time ever in the Muschamp era, but we weren't *that* clean. I saw the entire OL jump before the ball was snapped on multiple occasions. On NMSU's second scoring drive, the long run preceding the score was aided by blatant holds AND a block in the back. Bullard frequently broke through the line having a lineman's arms draped around his neck, no call.
We couldn't even accuse these guys of an agenda. Just incompetence.
