A team who’s won 9/10 and in the Rose Bowl! Not a FCS school Duquesne like FSU is playing in week Zero. You got LSU and A&M from the Wedt plus the usuals like U.T. who is much improved and Georgia.

As it stands right now we aren’t beating Utah. Although it would be helpful if we schedule that game at 3:30pm. That could be helpful.

Anyone who watched tonight and wants to judge Billy on his first game is clueless.

i will bitch, complain, belittle, and probably get banned bashing Billy’s offense.

That said, we can’t tackle, our OL was manhandled by a G5 team, we have no drive, we are making mistakes, dropping passes. There is so much to clean up.

granted Gus coached in a title game and was too mich for Knox, but if we hadn’t had 3 consecutive incompetent coaches at UF, and had recruited like we should, we should beat UCF on talent alone, regardless of coaching

Billy, with the late hire, may still recruit more talent than we have seen in a long time.

Utah is too physical for the current roster. If Elam and Diabate come back and he hits a few homeruns in the portal we can hope for the best. But we need a lot of fixing to be where everyone wants to be

Gus isn’t even that good of a coach at that. When I found out we had only had 5 practices leading up to this bowl game then that is certainly a problem and not something I thought was going to happen when we accepted the bowl invite. The problem is we are not even close to SEC caliber on both offensive or defensive lines and Hevesy recruited the oline like he was coaching at a G5 program. If we want to have any chance at being decent next year Billy is gonna have to strike gold in the portal like what Tucker did at Michigan St. Billy has his work cut out for him for sure.

Wait, why did we only have 5 practices??

If I knew the team was only going to have 5 practices then my opinion would of changed and I would of said decline the bowl bid. My guess is because all of our “lame duck” coaches were possibly out looking for other jobs, etc but with that being said they were still under contract by UF so I put blame on Stricklin that was allowed to happen.

I heard it was 3, but 3 or 5, does anybody want to rethink their position that declining this bowl bid would have been a terrible decision?

Yea, I dont see what kind of positive could be gained for allowing this game to happen. On top of giving UCF an opportunity to boast about a win.....and they will despite UF being 6-6 and going through a HC change......UF added another embarassing loss to close out the year and further embarassed themselves with the post game fight.

Im actually glad that I ended up sleeping during the time of the game so I could burn the midnight oil and get some things done at work before the holiday started. Saves me from watching another full game like this.

Word is our guys were partying like the rock stars they are not prior to the game. The lack of discipline and embarrassment this group of players and coaches brought to UF is disturbing and unforgivable. Clean house I say!

Thats expected behavior, unfortunately. There were reports about the egos of players during practices, music in practice, etc......

Combine that with Mullen dancing with the players at times and we get an atmosphere of rowdy kids with the adult that wants to be part of the group as the "cool uncle".

The LSU shoe throwing incident wasn't a mistake.....it was one of many results of our culture.

......as for cleaning house? thats why Im not bothered by the outgoing transfers.

Dont let the door hit you on the butt. Only transfer I have respect for is our former qb Emory. He may not be that great, but he carried himself well and stuck with us longer than a lot of backups in his situation probably would.

Hey.... we have LSU week 2.... and Duquesne, I hear it might be their year.

I blame Stricklin for this. If he is going to accept a bowl bid then at the same time he should of demanded the team practiced more than they did.

This has to be unheard of, why on earth would your admin allow coaches not to practice. That has to be the most basic responsibility of the coaches. Crazy if true

You've got a bunch of guys who have already been dismissed, hard to hold their feet to the fire, especially after you've committed to being in the bowl game, so you can't boot them early. All you can do is cross your fingers and hope they don't embarrass you too much. Bad news, they did.

Better than coaches who want to be there and lose to JSU....

Didn't Emory Jones enter the portal b4 this game? I could have sworn he did. Did he withdraw his name or something or am I going crazy?

Lol he did enter the portal but it seems it was because he had a conversation with Billy that he wasn't part of the plan going forward.

I guess he COULD withdraw from the portal, now that his "hey other schools look at me!" Performance is D3 worthy.

But I don't know where that gets him.

So he entered the portal and then still played? That is so crazy to me

I thought he just announced he would be entering the portal.

No....I mean....like a week ago or so.

And Copeland played who, less than 24 hours later, announced his transfer to Maryland. He announced he was in the portal prior to the game as well.

I wish Spurrier would have pulled a Bob Stoops or Barry Alverez and coached this bowl game.

While I still disagree with you on turning the bowl down, I hate it that the coaches didn't give a full effort.

After the FSU game I was hoping Billy would have found a spot for Knox. Have it be position coach or analyst. Now I hope they left Greg Knox at the bus station/airport termac.

"“Culture precedes positive results,” the quote begins. “Champions behave like champions before they’re champions; they have a winning standard of performance before they are winners.”

Hopefully he sets them straight ,because the UF players seem to have had "perverted" version of what being a champion really means. Sadly, some of Mullen's recruits may be a lost cause because its too deeply ingrained.

IF that's the case. I think it goes back to recruiting (the people
You do recruit) and an overall culture thing.

Dan was lax. He was also terribly loyal. Which can play in Different ways.

I know everyone likes to bemoan Alabama for cheating, and lets say they did....10 years ago....but there's another thing to be said.

A lot of the those players translate well to the NFL from a discipline standpoint (yeah yeah Henry Ruggs but my goodness....one incredibly stupid night destroys the live's of many people....Saban hasn't needed to hand out "bags" in a long time, if he ever did.

The success and draft picks recruit themselves and, I believe, the attitude about the culture does as well.

What I'm hoping is that Billy's culture is in that vain. He has a bit more personality than the rest and coming from where he did and demanded if the resources for what he wanted....well....he sold that and is getting it.

I'm very drunk and tired but what I'm trying to get at is that Billy Napier may come from the Saban tree but he isn't as hard nosed as Muschamp, goofy as McElwain, or as aloof/dismissive/stubborn as Mullen, and maybe not as much of a burnout egotist as Meyer.

Also his last name starts with an N....which literally one step forward from our previous four coaches in a row.

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals.

Nope. He had already announced his intentions. He was a loyal Gator but not so good qb. We should wish hi the best though.
That’s what I’m saying though.

He didn’t enter the portal before the bowl game, he just (only/merely) announced he intended to enter the portal.
