Crashing the economy wasn't supposed to help Americans, it was supposed to set off another Great Depression and voter outrage that would get Trump fired.
As usual, it failed spectacularly. The markets are already recovering, and dems have blown another coup attempt.

I'm curious why you assume everyone is going to blame Trump for this? Some people didn't need a reason to blame this on Trump, but I'm wondering why you think a worldwide pandemic will cause Trump to lose the WH in November.
I don’t Trump will get blamed for the virus, just our delayed response and the misinformation he was spreading at the start. And still does to a lesser extent. Like being able to go back to work by Easter. Nobody believes that.
But more importantly, it’s just awfully difficult for a president to win an election during a recession, no matter who’s fault it is. Ask Hoover, Carter or Bush 41.
