2024-25 Basketball,,, all things considered...

Condon with a big game. I wonder if there is any way to get the East if Duke loses or would they say we are technically closer to Indy than New Jersey and not do it.

Impressive way to end the regular season.Ole Miss is a solid team that can really shoot it. And, honestly, we played pretty sloppy and still won by 19. This team is poised to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament. Not sure I care how they do in the SEC tournament. They have a double bye and won;t play until Friday. So the 5 days of rest will be good for them.

Houston's game tonight against Baylor might determine if we get Indy or San Francisco. If we did get Indy since another SEC team wont be the 2 seed it's very likely Michigan State would be the #2 in our region.

Refs trying to screw us again as Richard and Martin should have been shooting free throws.
This conference is hilarious.. like, the first game ALL year they have a reason to help us win to ASSURE there's two 1 seeds from their own conference.. What were they doing? Same old shit, road team hits the bonus before us in BOTH halves AGAIN while getting the shit kicked out of them anyway.. THEN you have Lunardi come on during our broadcast to talk about how Bama would jump us for the 1 seed if we lost literally THREE days after soundly beating them on their own floor.. Somehow the last two teams we beat beating Auburn their next game doesn't make our resume look better... no no, it somehow made Bama look better than us.. You can't make this shit up boys

Also do you realize how absolutely crazy it is that we went 14-4 in this SEC this year.. and had multiple injuries that could destroy teams along the way too

Did you see when Golden made them go to the monitor when they called a foul on us? Not only did they reverse the call, they were forced to give Ole Piss a flagrant one! These refs are horrible!

The best officiated games are the ones where we hardly notice the refs. Tonight, the refs dominated the game like they wanted to be in the spotlight. 42 fouls called, no momentum could be generated, it was sluggish, boring and ridiculous. And yet we won easily by 19 over a VERY good team. It's all good!

That's the point iv'e been trying to make all along, they aren't horrible, it's deliberate.. Golden has been closer and closer to blowing a gasket with each game, it's hilarious to think it's not possible to get worse in the actual tournament with officials that make all calls to help the underdogs than our own in conference.. We are bulletproof to the whistles being against us, these other top teams are not and it will show in two weeks.. They were talking about it on Twitter during the game, how is Florida the only team that doesn't even get the home whistle.. The only sign of it at all is after Golden made them review that and kept on their ass for the absolute criminal touch fouls on us and them tackling our guys on the other side.. Then we started missing a million free throws again, which is my lone worry for this team...

if you're just looking at the game objectively like tonight with like 50 fouls called, it clearly just looks like the refs wanted the over total to hit on the game.. I mean it was that bad

Free throw shooting is definitely our achilles heel for our big guys. They really need to spend some gym time doing nothing else but that. FFS, I was never some basketball athlete but shooting from the free throw line is nothing but mindless repetition, and best done when dog tired. I just don't get these fantastic athletes not getting that done.

I had a coach in high school who made us run several laps until we made 3 successive 1 and 1s. If you failed, you start all over. I learned quick to concentrate and how to shoot them. 😂

According to Lunardi Auburn, Duke & Houston are locks for #1 seeds because they have won their conference regular season titles. UF, Bama & Tennessee are battling for the 4th #1 seed, with him saying Florida probably has the inside track. That means we will be in the West Region more than likely. Auburn would be South, Duke East and Houston Midwest. If we win 3 straight and win the SEC tournament and Houston or Duke loses early in their conference tournament, maybe we move up to a #2 or #3 seed. Possible, but not probable. If we are the #1 seed in the West, our first 2 games would be in Raleigh, NC. Lunardi is projecting Texas Tech as the #2 seed in the West, with Wisconsin #3 and Kentucky #4, potentially making for a UF/Kentucky match-up in the Sweet 16. It will all be revealed next Sunday at 6 pm.

What good does the SEC tournament do us? I mean look how they shafted us last year for winning 3 games, beating the brakes off Bama again and playing Championship game.. They still gave bama the 4 seed and us the 7, all while breaking micah's leg and ending our season for our troubles.. We should be a 1 seed and **** this conference and the conference tournament, we already have the 1 seed there's really nothing more we can do.

We will probably get the West but I think Indy is a real possibility if Houston loses tonight. The west could work out better for us though. I think KY may get a 3 seed now.

If we lost our 1st game and TN made the final they would pass us I think. Depends on opponents in the tournament probably.

I stole this quote:

Just a reminder Todd Golden went into the hardest league in the history of college basketball and had the second best regular season in UF history, and we’re still making excuses for Billy Napier

Houston beat Baylor 65-61. I don't really think it would have made any difference. They won the Big 12 by 4 games ove a really good Texas Tech team. In this morning's BPI, Duke is #1, Houston #2, Auburn #3, Florida #4, Alabama #5, Tennessee #6. In the KPI rankings, it's Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Houston & Duke in that order. In ELO rankings, it's Houston, Auburn, Duke, Florida, Alabama, Michigan State. In NET rankings, it's Duke, Auburn, Houston, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama. It just seems that Joe Lunardi knows what he talking about last night when he said the 3 locks for #1 seeds are set - Auburn, Duke & Houston, Florida, Tennessee and Alabama are fighting for the 4th #1 seed, with the Gators having the edge right now. We shall see how it plays out, but perfomance in the SEC tournament MIGHT make a slight difference in hoiw the committee decides.

oh so the SEC Tournament would actually matter this time when these other teams need it too? How convenient

I do wonder if it would matter if the roles were reversed. The reason they could even possibly pull this crap is because our OOC teams that are usually a good win weren't good this year - Wake Forest, Virginia, Arizona State, Wichita State and FSU etc. North Carolina ended up being our only Quad 1 OOC opponent.

If we lost our 1st game in the SECT and TN beat A&M and then Auburn we would probably be sweating it out on getting that #1 seed.

Our nonconference SOS was #259, overall SOS is #29. That certainly doesn't help us.

Looking at all these projected brackets and the averages they produce if the tournaments don't change things much and we get the #1 seed in the West (TN and Bama would have to be in the East and Midwest) then our possible #2 seeds in the West are:

Michigan State, St John's, Texas Tech and Texas A&M ( I doubt there are three #2 seed SEC teams but it could happen I guess).

I edited out the first couple of lines so my question is clear. Did you mistype that? I'm confused.
I'm guessing you meant overall top 3 teams to be selected, not seeds.

I would chuckle if Golden sandbagged the first tournament game and started the bench backups like the KC Chiefs did in their last regular season game. 😂

Eff em. They got blown out. 😂 Great win to close out the season. No conference game at home this year is a gimmee. Ask Auburn. 😂
He's also a 24 year old Duke reject still in college. After he hit the free throw, he did the chomp again.
Brakefield just brought back memories of another dumbass, former FSU WR Kelvin Benjamin, who graduated from high school at the age of 21.

Before I wouldn't care but looking at likely # 2 seeds in the West and getting NC for our first 2 games location I would rather keep that 1 seed and not risk TN making a run in the SECT and making us a #2 seed in the East.

#2 or #3 OVERALL seed, of course. The top 4 overall seeds are #1 seeds in their region. I thought that was a given that everybody understood. Sorry if I didn't fully explain.

==========

Cherry Pickin' da stats:

Blocks, 1 each: Clayton-Martin-Chinyelu-Handlogten

Steals: 1 each: Condon-Chinyely-Aberdeen--with 3 for Martin
===

Assists / Turnovers

Clayton ----- 8/2
Haugh ------- 6/2
-----

Condon ------ 3/3
Martin -------- 1/1
Richard ------- 0/0
Klavzar ------- 0/0
-----
Handlogten - 0/1
Chinyelu ----- 1/2
Aberdeen ---- 0/3

Points / Rebounds

Clayton ---- 23 / 5
Condon --- 17 / 15
Martin -------13 / 5
Richard ---- 10 / 3
-----
Chinyelu ----- 7 / 8
Haugh -------- 7 / 5
Aberdeen ---- 3 / 1
Handlogton -- 2 / 4
Brown -------- 2 / 0

Free Throws:

Richard -- 2/2
Martin ---- 3/4
Chinyelu - 3/4
Klavzar --- 3/4
Condon -- 3/7
Team - 14/21 = .667

3's Shooting:

Condon ---- 2/3
Aberdeen - 1/2
Clayton --- 5/11
Martin ------ 2/6
Haugh ------ 1/3
Klavzar ----- 1/3
Richard ---- 2/10

So while Condon sucked at FT's 3/7, he was solid on FG's 6/7 and 3's 2/3
Richard was 2/2 on FT, but went FG 3/12 and 3's 2/10
This is team wide each game, good and bad for everyone on a given day.

TEAMS carry each other in different aspects each game.

A big key to winning it all in recent years is not having both of your starting guards having real bad shooting in the same game during the tournament. It seems quite a few Champions have survived multiple bigs having a pretty bad shooting game in the tournament.
