2024-25 Basketball,,, all things considered...

Going to be real interesting if we did win @ Bama and beat Ole Miss and TN wins @ Ole Miss. If they went with both of us as #1 seeds it could screw us actually in a way if we got the West (I have no doubt they would give TN the preferred location over us). Would they leave Houston out of the #1 seeds? I am not sure but it could be a situation where they wait to see if they win the Big 12 tournament (and us or TN didnt win the SEC one) to decide if they would get that #1 seed over either us or TN if we all closed out the season with wins. As long as we beat Ole Miss we should be in a good spot to be the #2 seed in the South or East I would think which is a good spot to be in.
I agree. Lose to bama, but beat Ole miss should get us a 2. In recent years the committee has put less emphasis on the conference tournaments.

I would damn sure rather be a 2 or 3 in our region than a 1 in the Pacific ocean.

Yep we would be screwed fan wise in the West bracket. The Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games are in San Francisco. We might even be screwed in the round of 32 game as I think there is a chance we get stuck outside our preferred area in the 2 early games also. If we lose @ Bama but beat Ole Miss and TN beats Ole Miss at least that scenario is off the table.

"Jimmy Dykes, when I first got here, one of the things he said to me, was the key to being good in this league is not letting one loss turn into two. Having suffered defeat just four times this season, the Gators have responded well in each follow-up contest, and in a big way, too. After each loss this season, the Gators have recorded a double-digit win in its next contest, indicating an ability to flush the previous result and return to what has led Florida to success."

While that's very commendable during the season, once the Dance begins, just one lapse in effort and you go home as an also-ran. FT's and 3's shooting along with a lock down defensive will be the key to a NC run imo.

One thing that has remained a consistent throughout the years, to your point, got to have great guard play, make your free throws, and defense. Its why a team like Bama is a candidate for an early exit versus a team like the vols, although regular season rick didn't get his name by accident.

True - I'm interested to see how Todd Golden earns his stripes in the NCAA tournament. 1 and done last year. I really like him for the way he's recruited to need, has fire and knowledge and is good at making in-game adjustments. But the post season is where the rubber hits the road.

Last year was a tough opening draw. That Colorado team had 3 guys taken in the NBA draft. They were really good, and we were trying to adjust to life without our big man. My hope is we just stay healthy over the next 2 weeks.

He needs at least a Sweet 16 for it not to be considered a bad tournament for us. Final Four and he has definitely made a name for himself.

Houston hasn't and will not play anyone that will keep them from a 1 seed in the big 12 the rest of the way.

The oddsmakers have UF with 4th best odds to cut the nets down, over Alabama and Tennessee.. Betting odds are always better grasp on reality than rankings and seeds

The shooting looks good at times but women's basketball just looks like a 2nd rate product to me because they are weaker physically and it shows up big time when you watch how the game looks.
CC ended her college career with 54 Records -- In her rookie WNBA season she set 62 Records.
Every game is a tough out all the way through the rest of the schedule. No easy putts, and every team has dead tired legs, us included. I'm disappointed in Clayton Jr's shooting lately,

I didn't have time the other day to respond to this, but I do now so here you go. I'm responding to the feveredbrains mostly, but Nav get's a little nod on this too. Tired legs, rough schedule and any other excuses thrown out there.

Weak women's basketball? Well, let's just address that without the macho bias for a change...

Yes, the women play on a slightly smaller court and they use a slightly smaller ball, but then they are both smaller bodied including much smaller hands, and they are genetically physically weaker. The thing is, when it comes to the skill of the game, there they can be as good or better in individual cases. The wear and tear on the body is about the same in a long season imo.
So, here we go...

PG Caitlin Clark began her Sr season at Iowa, preseason practice begins in Sept. 2023
She played her first game on Oct. 15, 2024.
She played in 32 regular season games ending on March 3rd 2024.
Then The B-10-T 3 games ending as Champ in OT vs Neb.
Then the NCAA-W Tourney 6 games ending as the Runner-up to SCa.on Apr. 7th
Total games = 41 Games including 2 Tournaments, a season running from Sept. to April.

One week later on April 15th 2024, she was the #1 WNBA Draft Pick of the Indiana Fever.
Not much of a break from the season.
So then she had to make her move away from her family in Iowa to Indiana.
Then from college to work with new coaches, system, and a dozen new teammates.

Three weeks later, the WNBA Preseason 2 games beginning on May 7th 2024.
Regular season begins on May 19th 2024 -- Ended 40 Gams on Sept. 10th 2024.
Now throw in 2 Playoff game on SEPT 22nd and 25 for a Total of 42 games played.
A 42 game season. Now throw in a menstrual cycle every month just for fun on the weakling....
🙄

From Sept 23, 2023 thru Sept 25, 2024, she played in a combined NCAA & WNBA 83 games, including 3 Tourneys, while setting all time records along the way.

Any Gator on the Men's B-Ball team that's suffering with tired legs or a tough schedule would be laughed at by that weakling CC.... 😉

🤣 I could care less about Clark or women's basketball. If I remember right a boys high school team smoked the women's NCAA championship team years ago when they had a scrimmage. Speaking of not finishing things off and the Final Four not meaning anything how many NCAA championships did Clark win?

I certainly don't trust anything that a feveredbarin calls his memory, so link it or I'm calling BS.
Telling me how much you care is an AVOIDANCE tactic for avoiding the facts that I posted, showing that the weakness is in your flimsy WEAK logic/claim...

And even IF it were true, Apples are Red and Oranges are, well....
You're prolly the type that beat up your little sister and thinks that makes you a tough guy...

CC had no NCAA Basketball NC's. (only twits deflect like that)
Mainly because NC's are won by TEAMS in basketball, it's not the high hurdles or the long jump.
Back attcha though: --- How many of the O4's have had their Gator Jerseys retired?
Iowa has already retired CC's, and they had a paid Arena full of fans that wanted to be a part of it.

  • However, Caitlin Clark is the only player since 2003 to have 40 points and 10 assists in an NCAA Women's Tournament game... and she did it twice!
  • In addition to winning her 3rd straight Dawn Staley Award, Clark also became the first unanimous National Player of the Year in Big Ten history.
CC NCAA Records:

Then as a brand new Rookie in the WNBA, she broke/set 62 more records, but no, her Fever team did not win the WNBA Championship, but she was named the WNBA ROOKIE of the YEAR. Also, at 23 years old, she's already a Multi-Millionaire, how are you doing btw?
(snicker)
Its fair that you don't/won't watch women's B-Ball, no debate there, we're all free to chose what to watch.
But calling them weak or no talent unwatchable is just incorrect.
PS - in 2024, the Women's NCAA Dance drew a much larger audience than the 'unwatchable' Men's did.

We know you are hoping White gets in there and Georgia has a run while you would love to rub it in if Golden was to stumble in the round of 32.

I read somewhere that Auburn, TN, Bama and UF can't be in the same region as #1 or #2 seeds. If True that really complicates crap and will mean one of those SEC teams will have to be in the West. Auburn is a lock for the South so it's off the table leaving only the East as a preferable location for Florida. We know Duke will be given the East so getting the East as a #2 seed is the only good draw imo though I would take the Midwest over the West. Problem is that Michigan State is likely to be the #2 there in the midwest even if an SEC team wasn't the #1 there.
