Florida has landed its first commitment for the 2018 recruiting class in basketball, and it's a big one.

Five-star point guard Andrew Nembhard, who plays at Montverde Academy, verbally committed to Florida on Monday evening via his Twitter account. A 6-foot-4, 185-pound point guard, Nembhard is widely regarded as one of the best passers in the nation.

"I am grateful and excited to announce my commitment to the University of Florida!" Nembhard wrote.

Nembhard visited Florida officially this weekend.

247Sports ranks Nembhard as the No. 23 overall player in the country and the No. 8 point guard nationally.

YeeeHawww, welcome son to the Gator Nation, and grats out to Coach White.

When does he come in?

And what will we be looking like pre season ranking?

Another big time commitment tonight for Mike White and the basketball program

Maybe we can get Nasir Little as well, he just decommited from 'Zona and is from Orlando. A hard nosed small forward is always a good thing to have.

GImme the two we have, Anfernee Simmons and Nasir Little, best class ever except for the 04's.

The departing Sr's are PG Cheeze, C Egbunu G-Sr, and SF 3-Gor.Grad-Sr-xfer

IMO, none of the others are likely early departures, (crosses fingers).

Mike already has 2 top quality PG/SG types committed for 2018.

A quality SF or a C would likely wrap up the 2018 recruiting class.

Mike White and B-Ball Recruiting over the Tn weekend:
All 3 are rivals 150's and currently considered Gator leans to some extent?

SG Elijah Weaver 6-5 190 - Oldsmar, FL
(he was HS teammates with Erik Hester and Dontay Bassett)

SF Khavon Moore 6-8 185 - Macon, Ga
(his quiet recruitment continues)

PF Colin Castleton 6-11 220 - Daytona Beach, FL
(UF -- Pur & ILL working to be in it)

Anyone have any updates on the recruiting possibilities to finish up / fill the 2018 class?
