-- Meyer said change has been refreshing in the coaching staff.
-- Called Dan McCarney a clone of Greg Mattison in many ways.
-- Said the search for a running backs coach was to get the best one in America.
-- Said the cornerbacks are three deep at both spots and that Florida hasn't had that since he's been there.
-- Said defensive line, running backs and cornerbacks were inadequate to Florida standards last year.
-- Said there has been a renewed chip on the team's shoulder after what happened this past season.

Injuries
Said Brandton Antwine will miss spring with a back issue and hopes to return for fall. Simon Codrington out for spring with a wrist injury. James Wilson has a left knee sprain (more on Wilson later). John Brantley has a left shoulder injury but will probably be able to work out a few days after spring starts. Phil Trautwein out for spring with bone spurs in right ankle. Ryan Stamper has a shoulder injury and will be re-evaluated early in spring practice. Maurice Hurt has dealt with shoulder stingers. Matt Patchan had a right shoulder injuury and Meyer said Patchan will play as a true freshman if he turns out to be what the coaching staff thinks he is.

-- Meyer said Wilson has talked with him about transferring but that he will not grant his release yet. In the past, others have expressed interest in leaving only to have fruitful careers at Florida.

-- Torrey Davis will practice in the spring but not every day. Meyer said Davis has a lot of work to do academically.

-- Jason Watkins and Cameron Newton had particularly impressive off-seasons. Also mentioned were Emmanuel Moody, Deonte Thompson, Cornelius Ingram, Carlos Dunlap, John Brown, Lawrence Marsh, Jacques Rickerson, Dorian Munroe and A.J. Jones.

-- Vance Bedford will recruit Miami. Kenny Carter will focus on Atlanta and north Georgia.

-- Mike Pouncey will move back to offense and start working out at right guard. Maurkice Pouncey will be at center. Meyer seemed pleased with the depth and competition along the offensive line.

-- Working on the two-minute drills and situations will be a focus early in spring practice. Meyer re-iterated that he plans to play two quarterbacks next season and that the competition between Newton and Brantley should be fierce.

-- Riley Cooper is playing baseball but Meyer said Copper will go through spring football.

-- Meyer said he's been pleased especially with Carl Moore. Troy Epps has some work to do academically. Janoris Jenkins and Jeremy Brown have also stood out among the early enrollees.

-- Chris Rainey is up to 174 pounds. Should have a chance to carry the ball more if he has a solid spring.

-- Jeremy Finch will start off slow in the spring as he comes back from his injury last season. Another player who has to do some catching up academically.

-- Percy Harvin is up to 199 pounds.
