I don't think this matters as much as you guys think it does. 17 year olds are all about what's hot, if you can sell them something, they'll sign up regardless.
Look at FSU when Jimbo took over...they had been down for a decade and were getting beatdown by the likes of Wake Forest and we were the hot team and Jimbo sold a vision and started racking up. Or look at Tennessee...when Butch Jones took over they were fresh off consecutive 5-7 seasons and had been down more than a decade. He came in and sold his Vol for Life, Brick by Brick BS and they started racking up top classes. Don't even have to go back far for us....Muschamp got a top 10 class after a 4-8 season by selling change with a new OC, playing faster, etc. There are plenty of examples of this happening at schools that have been losing for a long time. We haven't even been down that long, we were in a Sugar Bowl 4 years ago. And had a 10-2 regular season last year which you would think would have led to a better class.
