Winning and looking good doing it is the best recruiting tool of all. If Grier never gets suspended, there wouldn't even be much negativity on here. We lost all recruiting momentum when our offense became garbage after Treon took over and we got embarrassed the last 4 games (including FAU). I love what Coach Mac has done and believe he's the right guy for the job. However, I'm not gonna look at it with blinders on and imo he deserves some blame for the 2nd half of the season. If not for that 2nd half, we would have had a real good shot at a consensus top 5 class. So instead now we have a GOOD class with players that will contribute right away.
For our recruiting to be great again we're going to have to start winning SEC titles or we're going to need a coach like Nick Saban, Jim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer, or Chip Kelly where their names alone bring in top recruits.
An example I would like to use is Texas A&M. Remember how they were killing it on the recruiting trail when Manziel won the Heisman? They also got all these great facilities and no coach was hotter than Sumlin but how much noise are they making now?
I'm just going to pray that Del Rio is legit (at least solid & can hit open receivers in middle of the field) and that the O-line can take a big step foward next year. Imo, if those two things happen then we have a shot at an SEC title and recruiting will be how it should be at UF. I know some are pissed at the coaching staff about recruiting but I can't ignore the fact that recruiting was looking different for us when we were 6-0.
