Will Jason Candle get a look? He's comparable to Frost and Norvell

Anyone checked him out yet? He's young (under 40) and runs a high octane offense (top 10 both years as a coach, which bests Frost and Norvell) at Toledo. He also calls his own plays, which is a bonus.

His record is as good or better than Frost and Norvell, and he should finish with 10 or 11 wins this year, with his only loss coming from Miami. And that's nothing to be ashamed of this year.

The only knock I have on him is his team gets tons of penalties, which I find to be a coaching issue. Other than that, I like his up temp passing attack. Maybe another question mark is that he inherited an already decent team (he took over for the guy who's coaching Iowa State now).

Just by watching games of these 3 coaches, I'd rate them all about the same. I'd say whomever is the strongest recruiter would be the one I'd give the nod to if it comes down to picking a young, slightly experienced coach.

I think we're better of going with a proven winner, though, like Chip Kelly or the guy from Louisville or TCU because they've already accomplished what these young guys have at Power 5 conferences. Why leapfrog proven guys for relatively unproven ones?

Frost > Norvell. UCF blew Memphis' doors off this year. I get that was just 1 game but I believe Frost values the defensive side of the ball a little better than Norvell.

I don't want Petrino. Lville has actually regressed won him as the coach. They are terrible on defense. The defensive side of the ball has gotten progressively worse every year he has been there.

ISO, we ain’t hiring anybody with any NCAA or scandal-type stink on them.

That eliminates Kelly and Pitrino. If Stricklin is at all following the fan line of thinking it will be Frost...Norvell...Mullen in that order. Don’t think many of us even known who Candle is. Stricklin wants us all on board and (relatively) happy.

Maybe, although Memphis defense played really well last night, and not only was the UCF win earlier this year only one game, it was a hurricane rescheduled game a few weeks after Memphis flew to Orlando only to be sent right back home and it was just a weird vibe...Memphis driving constantly then turning it over, often by mistake. Score cascaded for deceptive final score. They could play again if UCF beats USF and Memphis beats SMU, highly unlikely Memphis does not score a lot more, let alone win.

I would prefer Frost too. He is older, has two years in the state and a cool demeanor. However, both of these guys, should they choose the right fit, seem to have potential to be really good at a higher profile school.

Should Memphis enter the AAC title game at 10-1 and UCF enter at 11-0 (both teams lost a game to the hurricanes), they will have a real deal going on there and a legitimate likely Peach Bowl opponent for someone.
