Dooley is counting down the Top 25 moments in the Swamp on GatorSports.com...

In typical Dooley fashion, many of the moments selected to this point are a bit obscure and/or questionable...

He is up to No. 5. (which is amazingly a meaningless Darren Hambrick interception)...

What is the correct No.1 moment?

sadgator will say that it SHOULD be the 4 down “goal line” stand against FSU in 1991 (which technically came the year before the official nickname)...

It could also be the Jacquez Green catch against FSU in 1997...

The loudest sadgator ever personally heard it was right before the last Warrick Dunn TD score in 1993...but nobody ever talks about that because of the result of the play/game...

Jarvis Moss FG block

Long Green reception in 97 FSU game

What about the Kerwin Bell 2 point conversion against Auburn?

Tony George interception returned for a TD against UT and Manning. Don’t remember the year? 1995?

He’s only counting post ‘92 stuff. Most long-time Gators will tell you the ‘86 Bell conversion was the best...it was just slightly before sadgator’s time. The Tony George
int (1997) was No. 14...the Mick Hubert call of that play (and sound of the crowd in the background) is probably the best ever...he doesn’t take a breath for like over a minute...sadgator has the wav file for that call on his computer, but doesn’t know how to link it...if anyone can find and post that online, it is so great...

Quezzie against FSU 32-29 when they were #1, followed by the cock block. Beating Tennessee on the last play of the game two years ago was loud too...

I was at this game. Many don’t talk about it but it may have been the best game ever played at UF as well and rivals that 97 UF vs FSU game.

That reception was huge in that 97 game but we still had to punch the ball in for the TD from the 18 yard line and keep them from getting us into OT when they got the ball back as they just needed a FG and had enough time left. I remember the announcers saying we might have left too much time on the clock. Knocking FSU out of their title shot was huge however.

I would probably put the SC FG block over that because it directly won the game right on the spot even though we didn't know it would mean a title shot then.

Maybe I'm biased because it was my first game at The Swamp, but Bobby McCray blocking a chip in game winning kick against Auburn in 2002. Then Grossman to Jacobs in OT to win it. Zook, at the time, said it's the loudest he ever heard The Swamp. I was also at the Jarvis Moss block game and they were very comparable.

Obviously, it's a personal opinion, so it's whatever each person wants it to be, and there are no 'wrong' opinions on a question like this.

I had almost forgot about that crazy game. I remember we had came up short on a 4th down near midfield for them to get in that position.

Personally my favorite game was 99 vs UT.

They were coming off the national championship. Phil Fulmer was all giddy and cocky. Tee Martin makes an absurd comment along the lines of "Playing in the Swamp is no different than playing in Commonwealth stadium." Cosey Coleman made a comment about Florida's D Line being a bunch of second stringers.

Alex Brown had to have given Tee nightmares to this day. I believe he sacked him 5 times. Knocked down a couple of passes, and picked off a pass. Andra Davis knocked Tee into a camera and knocked his tooth out. Earnest Graham was introduced to the world. One of our most underrated pair of WR's Travis Taylor and Darrell Jackson tore up the UT secondary.

UT was down 23-21 and driving down field for a go ahead FG. On 4th and 3 Keith Kelsey stuffed a Jamal Lewis run. That was one of the loudest moments I witnessed in person at The Swamp.

Robert Gillispie ended all hope with a long run for a first down on 3rd and 3 with just over a minute to play.

That game was loud from beginning to end but nothing was as loud as the stuffing of Lewis.

I was watching this game from the mess deck of my coast guard cutter stationed in Key West, and watching how electric the Swamp was, I knew I wanted to be a Gator when my enlistment was up.

14-9 will always hold a special place in sadgator’s heart as the best game he ever personally witnessed....

"(On the phone) Hey Coach Bowden, what time is it?"

"Why, it's 8:46"

"Nope. it's fourteen to nine!"

One of the truly great Gator Growl skits.

So I know this one sounds ridiculous, but I remember being there in 2005 when (Vernon Brown? God, can't even remember his name now) intercepted Jay Cutler in double over time after Cutlers dad did the Gator chomp.

There was such an insane tension for most of that game because we all thought we were going to lose to Vandy and when that interception happened, it was this explosion of sound I've only a heard a few other times.

That first national championship game in 1996 vs. FSU is my #1. It took a huge monkey off the back of Gator Nation and set the stage for many more great years, including the 2006 & 2008 title teams.

Vernell Brown...and yep Cutler's dad was a little too cocky too early.

There has been a few moments of assholes doing the chomp too prematurely. Janokowski being another one that stands out.
