In their 4th year of playing football, the Pensacola-based West Florida Argonauts today won the Division II national title beating undefeated Minnesota State 48-40. 19 year old freshman QB Austin Reed from St. Augustine threw 6 TD passes in the 1st half and the Argos withstood a furious comeback by Minnesota State to win the title game. West Florida went into the post season unseeded, but reeled off wins against Wingate (38-17), #1 Valdosta State 38-35, and Lenoir-Rhyne 43-38 to reach the Final 4, where those advancing were re-seeded. They then beat #1 seed Ferris State 28-14 before beating #3 Minnestoa State for the championship. The game was on ESPNU and was a fun one to watch.
