He talks about playing at a big time school. Does he not realize Miami isn’t a big time school either? The last time they had a top 10 team was 2002.

When you have approximately 31 players on current NFL rosters (more than Clemson) you’re a big time school.

Not sure what the NFL has to do with college football. Great! Miami has a lot of players in the NFL. So does that just mean Miami has underachieved then? That is all that tells me. My point still stands. When is the last time they finished in the top 10? 2002? That isn’t a big time program.

Dang. Don’t make me take up for Miami. They do have five national championships.

Yes they do but currently they aren’t a big time program. I would say in the 80s & 90s yes. But 2002 is the last time they had a top 10 team. That is a long time ago. The landscape in college football has changed drastically and it greatly affected the Miami football program. They haven’t even played in an ACC title game yet. And at least they used to win with no fans. Now they lose with no fans. That isn’t big time college football.

I for one don’t want to argue for UM. Thank goodness Coach Mullen got the hurricane monkey off our back last year. They were one of the most hated teams of all time. It’s true they are a shadow of their former selves and unlikely to return while NCAA rules are in place.

I was thinking the same but didn't respond at the time. It would be different if they had all that and at least completed for the ACC title more often than not.

Does anyone else find the whole story with King and Trask to be really fascinating and kind of ironic?

Kinda wish King had gone to a team we were playing this year. Just to see them both on the field together.

That would be interesting. I just find the idea that the backup got a better offer than the starter, and they’ll probably both end up playing on Sunday, to be just mind blowing.

King isn’t playing QB in the NFL. He’s not a good enough passer.

Doubtful he makes it as a starter in the NFL, but I'll bet he gets drafted. The NFL has Lamar Jackson fever right now, so anybody who can run and throw will get a shot.

That's part of why it was so important for Trask to drop those 12 pounds and add muscle. He has to show this year that he can run. He will never be a real running QB, but he looked like he was running in lead shoes last year, so if he now has better acceleration, it will help us this year and also help his draft status. He will never be a guy for us where opponents have to account for his running game, but he at least has to make them pay for ignoring it.

Absolutely, Miami has underachieved. Clearly, it’s been a lack of coaching. I think Houston has finished in the top ten more recently than Miami, but at the end of the day its subjective because King left Houston for Miami. To him, Miami is a big time program. To many players, Miami is still a big time program. When you go through numerous fired coaches dating back to Coker, to Shannon, to Golden, Richt and now Manny but still be able to recruit at a high level, does that not say something about the program? It still means something to get a scholarship to play football at the U. Miami still has the most titles in the state by the way.
