WCWS Bound!

Congrats to the Gator softball players.. Great win, great program they have going.

Glad they're in and glad they don't have an SEC or ACC team in their region. Just nice to play different teams. Dallas Baptist has a consistent;y good program. 41-18 this year and they have wins against Texas A&M, Oklahoma (2), Minnesota (2), Oklahoma State, TCU (2), Illinois State (2) and Indiana State (3). Their team batting average is .283, but they have 2 senior pitchers, one righty/one lefty, who have started 15 games each. One of them is 9-2 with a 2.46 ERA; the other is 8-3 with a 2.50 ERA. Team ERA is 3.92, so they can pitch. Team batting average against is only .240. And Texas Tech is always good. We played the twice in Omaha, losing the first meeting and beating them in an elimination game. Looking forward to seeing how our guys respond to the opportunity.

Baseball Team make a regional in Texas.
10th time in the last 12 seasons.
At least the 11 Fr, (4 Fr starters) can get a little post season experience in preparation for next season.
GoooooGATORS!

I'll be rooting for the lady Gators. A friend of the family plays for them. I hope your baseball team can get their A game going. It seems when the pitching is good the defense has two left feet.

Softball has struggled all season with team wide batting.
But now coming on at the right time...

Baseball has struggled all season with team wide pitching.
Still hit and miss there it seems to me.

Good fortune to both in the post season... :)

Tough 2-1 loss to Oklahoma State tonight. Kelly Barnhill pitched a 2-hitter, but both hits were solo home runs by the Cowgirls 6'2" pitcher, Samantha Show. Show gave up 6 hits to Florida, but we failed time and again to get a clutch hit with runners on base and in scoring position. Our only run came on a Jordan Roberts HR. But 4 innings tonight we had leadoff hits, including back-to-back singles to lead off the bottom of the 7th. But our inability to bunt hurts us in close games and it's something the coaches need to work hard on in the off season. Now we play an elimination game Saturday against either Oklahoma or Alabama and I don't expect much there. To me this team overachieved just getting to the WCWS, but it's still disappointing to lose when we had several opportunities to get this win. Oh well.
