WTH...a few weeks ago I had a Fed Ex truck tailgating me and flashing lights and I was in the far right lane....this was rainy weather and I was maintaining a safe distance. I do not know the condition here but it didn't look like he even tried to stop.... and if it was icy he was traveling way faster than would be safe in those conditions. Unless he can make a compelling argument he just committed manslaughter.
Sorry truckers but if I had my way you would have governors on your rigs and would be restricted to the far tight lane and 55 mph or less at all times with $2000 fines for violations on the person and company.
It was 55 mph zone and I was doing 55. I speed a little but it was raining and this was at one of the interchanges in downtown Nashville where all the interstates come together. I was needing to merge to the right with people coming up and merging left at a very odd angle that makes this merger very tricky. Not a fun sight looking in your rear view and seeing an 18 wheeler tailgating your rear at 70 mph.
If I'm ever in the White Truck's position I'm getting everyone out of the car and as far away as possible. Not a fun sight looking in your rear view and seeing an 18 wheeler tailgating your rear at 70 mph.
My pet peeve is the average person's lack of a basic understanding of physics. It was 55 mph zone and I was doing 55. In fact almost the entire right side of you vehicle is a blind spot. I have done this merger 100s of times (no exaggeration) AND I am never comfortable with it. A safe distance is min 4 car lengths so you can adjust your speed as needed in order to make the merge.
Needless to say the impatient bastard was being reckless.
Its suggested that even if pull off that you get out of your car, be on the other side of the barrier and well behind (upstream of the traffic) the car should it be hit.If I'm ever in the White Truck's position I'm getting everyone out of the car and as far away as possible.
Before seeing this I would have never considered it.

If I have a flat I drive on the apron, with safeties on @ 10 mph until I can get off on a ramp and find a safe place to change the tire. Never change one on the interstate.
