I agree that patents life is somewhat ridiculous and increases the cost of drugs well beyond what other countries do. But those countries allow drugs to come to market on a fast track. Our FDA has a wheel on the track and one stuck in the ditch. The amount of testing may be way too rigorous, as well as the liability exposure when courts award ridiculous sums of money in lawsuits regarding side effects in tort cases. That is probably the biggest reason that drugs are so damned expensive, but the American Bar Association will have none of that. For example, why is healthcare in the U.S. higher than in most other countries - cost of Pharmaceuticals and mini-monopolies granted by the government (11 years for patent protection, when 3-5 should be more than fine).
We saw this with Covid-19.
Corey Booker will defend. Will AOC? Great wedge issue.
Of course Pfizer wanted to have vaccines for kids - and make no mistake, I am glad they produced it for the small cohort of kiddos who indeed need it, but to suggest broad uptake is not (most likely) the right clinical protocol.
"Agenda 47" - that is good.
The increase in the number of scripts for anti-anxiety, anti-depression, and anti-psychotic drugs is alarming. Coupled with proliferation of processed food and the chemical fertilizers and pesticides used on our food, its a miracle that we arent extinct yet. Good video from the Donald, our country needs healthy strong people.
