Since early December, the Hole rhetoric has gone like this:

Mike Norvell, he is ultra organized! More organized than a file cabinet! More organized than a Rolodex! Best thing since Kendal Briles! Best thing since sliced bread ever!

Norvell, he is a fitness guru! More fit than fit! More energetic than Ron Zook on crack! Best thing since Kendal Briles! Best thing since sliced bread ever! EVER!

And on this rainy afternoon, the organization and fitness of Norvell amounted to a resounding dud.

Hey Hole fans, the last Hole coach who lost his debut lasted 21 games!

Norvell isn’t any good. He could of had the QB he just lost too but didn’t want him. Pretty funny.

Since the season is already pretty much over for FSU do guys like Marvin Wilson and Terry just decide to opt out now? Obviously that would be a bad look but you never know.

That’s actually a really interesting point. As this season goes on and teams lose, we are probably going to see more and more players just bailing on the season of weird....

Lol no. Those 2 came back to play, both could have left for the NFL. Zero chance they opt out now. Dont be a silly goose

I know you're, well, being you, but it's a great point about them leaving the team.

I wouldn't think they would do it so quickly, don't want to be seen as guys who bail at the first sign of trouble, but you could easily lose to Miami, Notre Dame and North Carolina, and if you are 1-4 at the halfway point, nobody would blame them for opting out at that point. Heck, might not just be them. I copied this from I don't know, some draft website:

The group of top Florida State 2021 NFL Draft prospects includes defensive tackle Marvin Wilson, safety Hamsah Nasirildeen, cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., and wide receiver Tamorrion Terry. Also, a pair of talented defensive ends, Joshua Kaindoh and Janarius Robinson, will likely hear their names called in the middle rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft.

What if all these guys opted out?

It's so bad for you guys right now I searched up Jacksonville State to see how you measure up against them. Interestingly, they only have a 4 game schedule this year, and FSU is game 1. I feel like there is a real chance they shut it down. You could be winless going to Louisville.

Depending on how the season goes their draft stock could actually decline. I don’t think it is as far fetched as you might think or believe. I’m not just talking about FSU players either.

Funny thing if not for a couple of unforced turnovers, just plain bad plays by GT qb in the redzone, this game wouldn't have been this close. GT looked like the better team.

Today, Memphis is 17 points better than Florida State
But Norvell is a good coach so would be surprised if he doesn’t get them to the top of the ACC within a few season

They dominated the stat sheet and were the better team.

It was foolish to pull Travis Jordan on that second to last drive...bad move
That's what I had been thinking. That guy was moving the damn ball pretty easily against GTech. Then he puts Blackmon back in and of course, the drive stalls. I'm left wondering, i'ts crunch time, probably your final drive. This one guy is killing it out there, why would you do anything to stop what is finally working????

You generally find out you have a new starting quarterback in GAME situations. Not in practices.

And take it all with a grain of salt, FSU didn't have a spring practice and the whole COVIDS thing for a new first year coach.

Dan Mullen managed to lose to Kentucky in one of his first games as Gators head coach and break the nation's longest active winning streak over a team. He has gone on to do very well so far. So while we enjoy this setback, I don't think this guy is going to be a failure for the SOW.

I could say the same thing about us tho. If blackman didnt throw it right to their defense or if terry holds onto the ball he catches 99% of the time or if warren basket case thompson could catch anything.... If our CB understood to cut back on his interception... We would have scored 40.

Nobody, not even nick saban is winning with slim at QB. This is a multi yr rebuild, not plug and play

He was hurt i believe.

Well yes, that happens. Don't want to see that from anyone and he definitely looked like the bright spot on your early season offense so far.
Blackman makes every1 around him look worse... Dude is trash. Our o line from last yr to this went from complete dog shit to just bad (big improvement from them)

And what would have happened if you didn't intercept 2 balls in the red zone and block 3 kicks? Coulda woulda shoulda.

Mullen won with Franks.

Mullen took a 4-7 team and managed to go 9-3 in his very first year. He managed to go 9-3 in his first year in the SEC and with Franks as his QB. So far a very bad start for Norvell.

Was Franks in any way a better QB that Dan Mullen inherited than James Blackmon is for Norvell? And we don't know yet, the ACC is atrocious. Other than possibly Miami and clempson, FSU could run the table the rest of the season. It's all still ahead of them. Dan Mullen didn't get to the SEC championship in year 1 and I wouldn't expect FSU to either.

I'm just trying to give them a little credit as to just how bad the situation is and that it can recover. It did for us.

The bad look was making the mistake of going there on the first place

Ga tech was picked to finish last in the acc. This was their easiest game of the yeat

Yes Franks is elite compared to blackman..... Blackman is one of the worst ive seen

The issue with Jordan is he can’t throw the ball or Norvell certainly doesn’t trust him to throw. He’s just a running threat at the QB position.

You guys have been blaming Blackman for four years now. You've had four years to replace him...you haven't, quit blaming him, blame Jimbo, Willie, Kendall Norvell etc.

grommit,

I think you overlooked a game !
Saturday
Oct. 10
Florida State Seminoles
Notre Dame Stadium, Notre Dame, IN
7:30pm ETNBC

If you are offering me & everyone else on this board Notre Dame at home straight up over FSU, please let me know ASAP !

I am willing to make a small wager on that !

I'm just trying to give them a little credit as to just how bad the situation is and that it can recover. It did for us.

You're probably correct that FSU will bounce back eventually, but who will be the coach when they do ?

This GREAT quote from HathBrad, from his post 'Don't Fret FSU Friends',

SAYS IT ALL

We've been there.

You had your Urban Meyer, who won you a championship and then left you high and dry (Jimbo).

Then you had your (Muschamp) rebound coach, who took the program to new depths (Willie).

Now you have your faux savior (McIlwain) offensive "genius" from a 2nd tier conference that accelerates the free fall to unbearable levels of despair. (Norvel)

But don't fret, the time will pass quickly, and with any luck you should hire your "forever" coach by 2024!

Willie recruited zero QBs.... Im not "blaming" anyone. Im telling you why we suck. Dude has had Jimbo, Briles, and Norvell and has sucked under all of them.... Yet all of them have success everywhere else they have been. Its common sense. Blackman sucks, hes awful. Yes, you are correct we should have a replacement for him but willie had zero high school quarterbacks.... We had the UNC QB committed.... We had sims committed..... We continuously have good QBs and then screw the pooch. Norvell got 2 committed in a month....
