This greatly explains why the vast majority of people on this forum and elsewhere around the world really don't understand how misinformed they are and how little they know about COVID, viral theory and "treatment," and the medical field in general. Everyone in here is generally of above average intelligence and most everyone in here has searched and read numerous articles on COVID, potential treatments, vaccines, and so on. So most everyone in here has reached the first peak on the Dunning Kruger X/Y axis.
I personally experienced this during residency. Near the end of my intern year I was at the top of the first peak on the DK curve. It wasn't until I entered a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship that I started a quick downslide from the first peak. I realized how much more complicated the critical care of very sick humans really was and I reached a moment of crisis in my first few months as a fellow where I thought about quitting because I was unsure if I could ever really master the field of critical care medicine. Thankfully I had several good mentors and nurtured me through this because they saw potential in me (Steven Sahn, Charlie Strange, Patrick Flume, Alice Boylan) and by the end of my third year I had achieved the second peak on the DK curve.
What struck me the most about those first 4 months of Pul/CC fellowship was the dawning realization of how little I actually knew and understood about the medical care of very sick humans compared to how over-confident I was going into fellowship because I thought I had already mastered a subject that was so complicated. And I was to ignorant at the time to even understand how little I knew and how much more I had to learn.
It was very humbling to me, and I have strived, sometimes unsuccessfully, to never over-state my expertise in fields I have little training or little experience in no matter what I hear on the news or read on the internet. Sadly this is where so many on this and other sites and around the country are regarding vaccines, "treatments", and everything covid, in way over their head but not able to even see it or understand how uninformed they are.
Just something to think about fellas. Took me 11 years after college to master my field. ELEVEN YEARS. Do you think you can gain that kind of knowledge with a few google searches?
