Actually its really simple. They lost their slaves in the civil war. They pretend to be for the "little man" but its just a scheme to enrich the political class. You create the problem and then you offer the solution. The solution always involves gaining power and wealth for the political class. They don't want kids to starve . They want the parents voting for them for the handouts they offer and want people looking to gubmint to feed the kids. So kids will get fed. They will get milk and bread while the political class scrapes off the top and gets steak, lobster, caviar and a nice vintage of Lafite Rothschild . All of this while never putting in an honest days work for any of it.

Jury Nullification ....one of the greatest gifts of English Common Law given to the civilized world...the Jury not the Judge is the ultimate power in the courtroom...makes a lot of judges mad...juries have the right to determine the law and the facts...many courts try to subvert that...this right should be taught in all Civics classes in HS because most courts explicitly try to prevent its knowledge.
