I stay in Hewitt, a suburb of Waco. Waco is on I-35, state Highway 6 and US-84. Straight north on State Highway 6 is Mineral Wells. Straight north on I-35 is the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Weatherford is 27 miles west of Fort Worth on I-20.
I-35 is the only interstate highway that splits two times into I-35E and I-35W for Fort Worth and Dallas and Minneapolis and St. Paul.
I've driven on every interstate highway in the country except the new I-2 at the bottom of Texas. I've driven on the new I-14 from Belton, TX to Killeen. I don't know if construction has started yet on the new I-11 in Arizona and Nevada.
I've driven from start to end on I-20, I-44, I-4, I-79, I-90, I-5, I-84. I haven't quite reached the north end of I-35, east end of I-10, north end of I-75, north end of I-15. I could go on but we all get the picture. I used to get around from 1991 to May, 2003.
And yes. I remember when Florida didn't know how to number exits except on the turnpike. And I know what a palmetto bug is. I've run over my share.
The finest T-bone steak in the country is at a Chinese restaurant in Auburndale on Main. I can't remember the name.
