1. Can I stop wearing a mask? No
2. Can they reopen restaurants etc. and everyone work normally? No
3. Will I be resistant to COVID? Maybe, but they don’t know exactly. It probably won’t stop you getting it.
4. At least I won’t be contagious to others, right? No, you can still pass it on, maybe…nobody knows.
5. If we vaccinate children, will schools resume normally? No
6. If I’m vaccinated, can I stop social distancing? No
7. If I’m vaccinated, can I stop disinfecting my hands? No
8. If I vaccinate myself and my grandpa, can we hug each other? No
9. Will movie theaters, stadiums etc. be reopened thanks to vaccines? No
10. Will the vaccinated be able to gather? No
11. What’s the real benefit to vaccination? The virus won’t kill you.
12. Are you sure it won’t kill me? No
13. If statistically the virus doesn’t kill me anyway, why would I get vaccinated? To protect others.
14. So if I get vaccinated, is everyone sure that I’m not infecting them? No.

So, the vaccine doesn’t give immunity.
Doesn’t eliminate the virus.
Doesn’t prevent death.
Doesn’t guarantee you won’t get COVID.
Doesn’t prevent you from getting COVID.
Doesn’t stop you from passing it on.
Doesn’t eliminate the need for travel bans.
Doesn’t eliminate the need for business closures.
Doesn’t eliminate the need for lockdowns.
Doesn’t eliminate the need for masks.

So…why should I be vaccinated? Come on what is the REAL reason for getting vaccinated?

So you can reduce your risk if dying, serious illness, and passing it on to others.

Most people understand simple things.

Fauci said last week we still don't know this for certain yet.

The first part of your statement is true, but my age and comorbidities put me in the 99.4%-99.6% range and we have zero long-term data on how mRNA acts in your body over the long term. It's certainly understandable why @kjfreeze is asking some fair questions.

Of the two options the J&J sounds like it's much more like traditional vaccines.

I heard him, as well as others. They don’t KNOW yet, so of course they are going to be overly cautious. That’s their job.

As for me,I just received my second shot so I can now feel better about visiting my 80 year old mother, and son who has asthma. I will wear a mask in public, just because it’s not really a big deal, But I feel no need to around my family.

Plus, since I am now protected, at least for a while, I don’t really care if the nut job antiVaxxers wear a mask or not.

But you care if people don’t get the vaccine?

What happened to my body my choice?

Are you enjoying that non restrictive economy out in Texas?

I know leftists thrive on classifying people into neat little categories, but someone can be concerned about mRNA vaccines and still take flu shots, vaccinate their kids, etc.

Not sure that's the same as a "nut job antiVaxxer".

Anyone who tells you they have any idea on what the long term effects are is lying.

No, I don’t really care if others get the vaccine, now that I’m protected. But there are still many at risk people that do.

Not getting a vaccine is stupid IMO, but it’s your prerogative.

We have to wear masks out here in Texas. At least in public places. As we should.

Getting or not getting the vaccine is all about risk management. It's a personal choice imo.

I don't think people should get in your business and call you stupid for getting the vaccine. You shouldn't do the opposite.

No vaccination is still 95% effective

My physical therapist told me when she got her second dose that the vaccine is probably only good for three or four months.
Just wondering. You should have the antibodies to prevent you from catching it again, right? Have you been tested for antibodies? I'm thinking you are good to go now.

Yes, yes we do. I never get a vaccine for the flu. Why bother when there are so many strains? A vaccine is strain specific. If one wants the vaccine, by all means take it. But don't think you can cram this down everyone's throat. I'm not an anti-vaccer, I just don't see the point.

Fair enough. I understand that many may be hesitant until this has been more widely adopted, even tough every expert has downplayed its risks. There still hasn’t been any studies on how it affects pregnancies. But some are truly the antiVaxxer types that wont do anything the big, bad government suggests for the greater good. Not to mention the true crazies that think it’s a plot to inject tracking devices into humans (yes, they exist).

Like I said, I wouldnt really care except for the risk to people that haven’t yet had the opportunity to get a vaccine.

Thanks. That’s a pretty high bar.
Shitty posts get shitty responses.
Why did you think you get so many responses? 🤣

If you still don’t see the point after 500,000 (plus or minus) have died, along with millions of others who have required hospitalizatio,, then there is nothing I can say to convince you. You do you.

And FTR, I’ve never had a flu shot either, but I sure as hell got a polio, measles and chicken pox shots.

Quadrivalent vaccines are 1 shot for 4 strains. They still might miss the main strain that year and one year the vax was only 20% effective.

I usually get one but did not last year or this year.

i Know several that had the Rona but no longer have the antiBodies.

Would you send your kids to a school where the other kids didn’t get measles or polio shots? In this example, assume your kids haven’t had the opportunity to get their shots yet.

If it didn’t impact other people, then I would agree. Your body, your choice.

Antibodies are not the only protection we have against known viruses. "Immune memory" is more complex and will dramatically improve outcomes by reducing the chance of cytokine storms/massive inflammatory responses...which is what kills you, not the virus.

If this study is accurate we're going to get to herd immunity really quickly at the pace we're vaccinating. We won't ever get rid of the rona, but when it's no longer "novel" for a majority of the population it won't be much more than a flu where you lose smell.

But that's the problem. People have gotten it twice and it was worse the second time around.

It's actually no worse than the flu now. Always has been. People die from the flu. Lots of people except those under the COVID umbrella.

even tough every expert has downplayed its risks.

In fairness, many of those same experts were telling us masks didn't really help, even though they believed that they did, because they didn't want to cause a run on masks as they weren't as widely available early on. These experts knew that masks needed to go to people in the medical field, first responders, ect first.

It was an untruth (nice word for lie) for the greater good. That's how that lie was justified...and by and large, I agree that it was justified.

The downside of that mindset, we don't know when "they" are telling a similar lie. Do the experts truly believe that the vaccine is as safe as they're saying it is or does the greater good justify a "good lie?"

My guess is that it's safe. But I'm absolutely not 100% sure of that.

That's a horrible analogy as the measles and polio vaccines have been around for many decades. We know a LOT more about those vaccines than we do about this vaccine.

Further, this is a brand new technology. It's not even in the same class of vaccine.

To answer your question, my kids are vaccinated against polio and measles but they are not vaccinated against covid. As a first responder I will have an opportunity to get the covid vaccine on Friday. I have a decision to make and honestly I don't know what I will do at this point.

I won't take it against a virus with a 99% chance of survival. Have never taken a flu vaccine either.
